Vitamix Question

I have a friend who *really* wants a Vitamix. Personally, I think they are ugly (too utilitarian) and don't have counter space for one... but I am impressed by their abilities. He's been trying to find one for about 6 months now. I dragged him to Good Will to keep me company while I scoured for old vacuums. Didn't find any, but did find a Vitamix box with a price tag of 80 dollars. I was speechless.... I just stood there staring and pointing. My friend, Larry gleefully lifted the box and ripped it open to see what kind of condition the Vitamix was in... only to find a Jack Lalane Power Juicer in the Vitamix box! What a let down! Can you imagine the disappointment?! Ugh! That was a cruel joke to play on us!

So.... what's a fair price to expect to pay for a used Vitamix. And, where to buy? I NEVER see them on Craig's List. Is Ebay a good place? I've never gotten anything 'lectric from there!

Well,

I got my Vitamix Maxi-4000 at Goodwill for $15.00. Truly an incredible machine! Not worth what they charge new though.

I had to wait 2...

years to find one! Worth the wait though. I'm now on the lookout for the cookbook.

Check E-Bay. I just checked and there are a lot of them out there and accessories. It all depends on how much you want to spend. My cousin has one and loves it.
