Here is a Vulcan fridge-freezer on ebay, I do vaguely remember seeing one of these at one time, but does anyone know who actually made them, because Vulcan are mostly known for making heating appliances.

I was going to say the Westinghouse of the 80's or the Malleys Whirlpool ones.

Vulcan did manufacture the dishwashers, although I understand they were based on a Smeg design. The Dishlex's didnt become part of Southcorp until the late 80's when the Quality took a nosedive.

Mums is about to turn 30 this year and is still Dissshhhhlex Quiet with almost no maintenance.

Nathan,

Very good friends of ours had an old 'Dishlex-Smeg' branded dishwasher in their kitchen for years. It was only replaced 3 or 4 years ago when they renovated and I had heard that this is the design that Vulcan used or manufactured under licence..

A hybrid maybe

You know guys,I agree the handles do seem Malleys Whirlpoolish,(is that a word?), and yet the interior seems a little like the older model Kelvinators, so maybe it is a hybrid, perhaps a Kelvinpool?,or a Whirlinator.
Actually why do fridges come in such strange capacities, i.e. this one is 416 litres, my G.E. is 579, why are they just not even amounts.i.e. 420, 430, 450, 500, I know you can get quite a few models who actually are even amounts, but there are just as many which are not, anyone know why.
Cheers.
Steve.
