food related pics from the 50s

...following on the 50s theme, I have a number of cook books published in the 1950s here in the U.K.

I hope you enjoy.
p.s. I tried earlier to upload jpeg pics but they were too big...so I resized them smaller..still too big..so if nothing appears, don't be at all surprised!..I just don't want to make them the size of postage stamps!
Here goes again..

What a Great Site

Being born in '55, I caught the tail end of that era. The 60's seemed to me as a child and teenager was soaring with the advent of Faster Cars, Appliances such as dishwashers and Air Conditioners. I remeber our neighbors had 6 air conditioners hanging out of their window,we caught up 2 years later by having 5 units. We were the first family on our block to have a dishwasher. That was in 1961. OMG , I'm starting to feel old.

I love those little RCA 45 players! I was a child of the 1960's, but several of my childhood friends had one of those RCA 45 players as "hand me downs" from an older sibling, or from the parents. Those players were pretty "bulletproof" as I can recall. Thanks for the pixs, both of those 45 machines look flawless!

beautiful Video....

nearly had me in sentimental tears.......esp the gas prices lol

You should do some more of these on other eras and post them here but also market them. What fun history class would have been with something like this.

Btw Im a 70s kid, it puzels me though to think that constantly the older generation thinks the 80s and 90s crowd is without merrit and memeories. I see the attitude creeping into my generation too. So we are just as guilty. Fortunately I see some turning around going on too.Newer parents seem to be taking parenthood back. I heard a 20 year old girl tell her daughter in Walmart the other day "I brought you into this world and I can take you out".....Awww the memories..lol

Love those RCA 45-rpm changers! Had one like the one on the left in above photo. I spent countless hours watching the 45's play-and-drop when I was little. My player was hooked up to a small receiver and a pair of speakers.

I was born in January of 1959, and consequently only around for the tip of the tail-end of the '50s.

haha! i born in january of 1986 and i was towards the end of the 80's. i didn't get to see much ot it. i do remember my bros had a blue ge stereo record player, but i think they gave it away, but last year i bought that same record player off ebay.

OMG, Rick! You couldn't have come closer to the experiences of my childhood and teen years in Eastern Idaho any better if I had submitted the material.

Just for the record, I did not make these videos. All I did was post the links to them.
