Hi guys,

I was lucky to acquire my favourite washing machine first - the 1968 4 speed programmed fluid drive. I’m now looking for the first model Simpson fluid drive as pictured.

If you have any leads.. let me know. I’m in Melbourne, Australia and price is not a barrier.

I have included Mayfan69s photo as it’s nice and clearly shows his machine clearly - what I’m after. I expect this to be another feat indeed but I don’t give up ha!

Repairguy - very

Yes! they sure are! One collector here in Australia has a lot of them but also buys up the same models over and over to prevent others from having one. It certainly stimulates odd behaviours amongst the serious collectors in Australia anyway lol. I was told I was living in a bubble thinking I would ever find one of these when I expressed an interest in them. It's a shame. If I was a serious collector, I would celebrate the interest with anyone interested!

Anyway... I now have a few machines

Nice find

Very nice find! I’d be cautious on what you say about other Australian collectors on this forum Charlie, they may just be watching and reading these comments in the background.

These people have been collecting for many years and through their contacts have probably built up a good spare parts inventory and maybe even have lots of manuals.

Just remember that when your Fluid Drives eventually need parts replaced that are no longer available…..they may not be so forthcoming in helping you out….

@mayfan69

Leon,

Being arrogant and possessive over an interest that everyone is entitled to have really highlights how ridiculous you are.

You may choose to collect 10 of every machine and treat people with disdain and mockery off this forum whilst pretending to be nice on this forum but I have had plenty of experience with you my friend. Enough to know that careful or not, you will get no help from you.

I see you point out that I have a Facebook alias called Callum.. want a medal? I do this so my identity is private and it’s not a secret Sherlock Leon!. I did tell you that but I think your ego made you forget.

Perhaps I prefer to be upfront about things online Leon Tattis rather than bitching behind backs and being the nasty, ugly grub you are.

You’re a jerk mate and a nasty queen who hovers over vintage machines like a nasty dog whilst pretending to be nice on forums and in your channel 7 escapades.

You will have said many things about many people irrespective of how polite or decent they are to you.

It’s you who should be careful Leon. You just don’t know how well people know you and you might be surprised that it’s better than you think!

I am glad you are spying on posts posturing as someone important.. perhaps you think you are the washing machine police. It is the vintage machines that are interesting and beautiful, not you Leon. 😂

@mayfan69

And everything I had said about you online was factual. Just the truth! You did say I was in a bubble buuuuut it’s yoooouuuu who’s in a bubble haha. I got two more fluid drives in one week! I’m so sorry Leon 😂 I know you wanted to store them in your arsenal. I just enjoy the machines for their beauty xx

Callum, as someone who has know Leon for 20 years, your words say more about you than they do him. Leon has helped many people, the key being that they are respectful and understand that his life doesn’t revolve around washers or the internet.

You need to look at how you interact with people and the response you get, a mirror might help you a lot.

Remember how you had a tantrum three years ago and blocked me because I was on holidays and not responding quickly enough to satisfy you?

I wish you all the best on your Journey.

@brisnat81

All I see is an undercurrent of nasty behaviour and I guess I’m tired of pretending that I’m not noticing the appalling behaviour.

I’d really appreciate it if we could end the association online and otherwise. I’ll continue to find my treasures irrespective of being told it’s not possible and that I’m living in a bubble - such a nice guy you’ve known for 20 years apparently. I will also help others who are interested because that’s decent, as I do with my many interests. I just feel sorry that not everyone can be kind and supportive.

Let’s all move on as we clearly love vintage washing machines but don’t like eachother.

All the best to you two also!

Now let’s all preserve our online image :)

Both of you probably need to get along, with each other

We’re here to make vintage appliances, work better and repaired quicker, we shouldn’t be just pointing fingers yelling and screaming with bicker , People can change a lot in three years. Just ask me in between 2017 and 2020. I went from someone who was immature and who in three years later I had matured a lot, I was a lot more caring and a lot more interested in what others had to say, I wouldn’t necessarily say that I went from grape juice to a fine wine but, I think both of you should try to get along as decently between each other as you can, because if you keep the lines of communication Open, you will both helping each other out much more for the benefit of everyone and detriment of the very few, just because I don’t like someone doesn’t mean I get rid of them from everything, I absolutely despise my sister and I still say hi to her and ask her how was work
