WANTED! Westy Blue Ramp Agitator

Exactly like this one in the video. I have no room for the machine, but the agitator will be enough for my collection. Please let me know if anyone has one, or know where I can get one--they never come up on eBay.

T/L westinghouse

A T/L westy is on my "get"list-if i end up with a spare blue
ramp agitator i will have you in mind-these are a pretty shade
of blue!
BTW does the "indexing"tub on these move back and forth or
does it "ratchet"in one direction?-couldn't quite tell by the
video.

If I remember from a kid (this is the washer that started it all for me), it ratchets in one direction. I use to throw my GI Joes into the clothes and watch those ramps devour them...they'd pop up eventually near the basket wall. Ah, memories!

LOL..i used to do the same-only with star wars figures in a
1970 hotpoint-pretty blue agitator there too.

Westinghouse T/L

The agitator is labeled pistachio underneath. I've been experimenting with the 3 different agitators I have for this machine: blue ramp, large 3-vane two-piece, and straight 5-vane. Each does a very different job and each interacts differently with the indexing tub.

The tub does index in a counterclockwise motion a few inches per stroke. There is a slight rebound on each indexing motion. I plan on doing videos of this but I'll at least descibe this a little for now.

The 5-vane is probably one of the best agitators for the T/L Westinghouse. It provides rather agressive washing action even for a full load. Having 5 vanes does really well at grabbing clothing and counteracting the indexing thus pulling articles downward.

The ramp activator is not quite as aggressive but does the best at controling the indexing motion. That is, the ramps tend to keep clothing from swirling around as much thus giving the machine that "double was action" that Westinghouse claimed to provide. If anyone gets a chance to look closely at the wash basket there are slight ridges that they claim to provide agitation also. Mainly a marketing thing if you ask me.

The 3-vane is maybe the most dramatic to see and yet the least effective agitator. The large vanes similar to a V-16 GE agitator do provide a splashy wash and rinse but the design of the built-in filter virtually prevents any type of rollover. Basically the filter cone is in the way. If it was not there I think this agitator would do much better. Also 3 vanes are not enough to counteract the indexing.

Anyways, hope this is at least somewhat interesting. I'll try to get some videos done soon.

Too funny about GI Joes and Star Wars figures in the washer. For me it was my Legos. I liked that because I could hear them knocking the agitator, especially larger pieces, but they weren't big enough to hurt anything.

Counting the days until you get the videos. A request: on the blue ramp agitator, would you mind doing a 'medium-low' load - that was always the best way to see all the action. THANKS, I can't wait!
