WANTED WTB GE Wonder KItchen or V-handle

Two years ago I lost my two door GE frige in a house fire. We're finally hoping to move back into the house, but I still have all the finishes to redo on the house. That means I need an all new kitchen. I'm looking for a Wonder Kitchen and a few vintage curved steel cabinets (My house is 40s). My reasoning - The wonder Kitchens are neat-O. I'm also thinking it'll be a fairly inexpensive way to replace my beautiful old kitchen. We had to gut it - so nothing is left. I know some people ask insane prices for them, but I spoke to somebody who tried to sell one for over a year on craigslist and finally threw it away. If it needs a little work that's fine too.

I may tuck some new luxury appliances, like an ice-maker, into some of the wonder kitchen cabinets.

PLEASE if you see any Wonder Kitchens on the west coast please let me know. I really want to find one with the stainless cabinet top, although I'm not sure exactly how that will work.

Other things I'm looking for...
4 - vintage St Charles or other steel company curved lower end cabinets
1- vintage 12" or 18" curved upper end cabinet
Philco V-handle (I can dream, right?)
or
Westinghouse auto-defrost fridge

cool! if you don't find any, and my guess is they will be pricey if they are in nice shape, you can duplicate the style with Poggenphol cabinetry from Germany.
There are plenty of dealers in your area.

Welcome to the site, Melissa! I'll keep an eye out for a wonder kitchen for you. But do also check this forum regularly - other members post Craigslist and estate sale finds here. You just never know what will turn up!

I think I am going to piece together a wonderkitchen due to time and money constraints. The main parts for me are the fridge and the square cabinets,the middle cabinets that sit on the counter, the stainless countertop and the curved cabinets that I'd get from another brand.

There's a fridge nearby. There's some middle cabinet units in Utah.

My biggest challenge right now is getting the items to LA or Missouri, where I have a friend, who appreciates my quest for vintage appliances and will store things for me. Or if I can store them wherever they are till I can pick them up. If I can't get them to either those places then I just need to find a way to store them in place.

But there are a couple parts I need in Philly, a couple I need in Chicago, and a couple in Iowa.

Any ideas of inexpensive transport methods? I'll try u-ship it, but I'm afraid for one or two cabinets it probably won't be worth it. Other ideas?

I'm going to start a new thread with my transport woes, but there's a wonder kitchen in Cedar Rapids that I've purchased, but I need to get it to Los Angeles - I need to pick it up in the next two weeks!!. [this post was last edited: 9/27/2016-05:04]

This is the 3 wonder kitchen I've tried to purchase. I bought one off ebay for 400, but the seller disappeared. I tried to buy one in Denver but the seller put it in the dumpster the day before (He said if I can get there in the next few hours, before teh truck comes to haul away the dumpster, I could pull the 300lb fridge out of the dupster and have it for free), then there was a local one I tried to buy, but that one was sold for scrap metal.

So here's my plan -
- GE wonder kitchen cabinets and middle cabinettes with glass shelves from Iowa
- GE cabinets from Reno (transport???)
-To make the hard 50s lines of the wonderkitchen more streamline, I plan use curved metal end cabinets for both upper and lowers - there are 2 in Chicago (transport?) but J still need several more curves, there are some in Philly, but it's just too far.
-then as the crown jewel = Travis's V-handle, once it's got some new insulation a paint job and maybe some new chrome: )
- I'm still loooking for a GE wonderkitchen Deep Freeze - & I might pick up a used smeg while I wait to repair the v-handle

newer GE side by side fridge in one photo, so I bet the overhead GE built ins do not work anymore.

'Vacerator' you have a keen eye. Indeed the white fridge was their daily fridge. I think with Wonder Kitchens "working" is subjective.  According to ads, it held 11 cu ft, and if u figure the avg person isn't going to pack it exactly as well as a they did at the company, it probably holds about 9 cu ft. That's less than 1/2 what a modern fridge holds. So even if it "works," for most modern families it would still be a supplemental fridge.  That said if you have the deep freeze drawer to go with the fridge, you'd be coming close to useful. 

 

Indeed you are right though, that fridge doesn't work (at least we don't think it does.  When the new owners bought the house they plugged in the wonderfridge, saw the light turn on, heard it run, and then got scared to run something so old, they unplugged it  & plugged in their subzero!) I'm buying a different "working" one. But even that one can only work moderately well for a modern family : )

Sliding Pot rack

I have just powder coated the cabinets for my kitchen center. It’s still in process. I found this part that I think is a towel rack. I don’t know where it came from.

I desperately need a pot rack— and I read kitchen centers originally came with pot racks. Is there a way to convert a towel holder to pot rack? Are they basically the same mechanism. This seems a little to heavy duty for a couple dish towels.

Anybody have pix of the pot rack?
