Did bed linens last week and for the whites used some of the vintage Gain detergent from my stash. Took items out of the fridge where they had been stashed for a few days until one had time to iron, and noticed the white linens had all sorts of greenish/blue splotches.

Since the stains were same colour as Gain detergent my first thought was to bung the lot back into the Miele and rewash. So far things look fine but now will have to watch things more closely.

Its rather odd since one has done many, many wash loads using the same Gain detergent but those were mainly regular household wash (clothing, bath linens, etc...), quite strange.

Still one must be thankful it wasn't Mrs. Stewart's bluing, that stuff doesnt' come out period.

I've found with older/vintage detergents that it's better to add laundry after a slight bit of agitation if using a toploader.  This assures a better chance of the detergent being dissolved, or at least more evenly distributed throughout the tub.
