Was there ever a Hotpoint Washer Dryer 800 De Luxe?

Hi guys on AW.org! Hope you're all keeping well!

It just got to my mind, Hotpoint's 99XX series washer dryers most of them had the Formal Names of "1000/1200 Washer Dryer" or "Washer Dryer 1000 Plus/800 Plus" and "Washer Dryer 1000 De Luxe". But was there ever a "Washer Dryer 800 De Luxe?" I always thought the 9924 and 9920's were, as their WM version is "Electronic 800 De Luxe" but they are Washer Dryer 800 Plus. I'd like to know if there really was a Washer Dryer 800 De Luxe. Thanks guys!

Also, did Hotpoint ever manufacture Washer Dryers during the New Generation era? E.G 99452 (95452 WD) or 99490 (95450 WD)? I have my doubts on that though you never know.

I can shed some light on that. The 1st ever Hotpoint washer dryer was the 9900 which came in 1985, late in the New Generation run.

Then in 1986, the 9901 and 9920 arrived, known respectively as the 1000 Deluxe and 800 Plus.

They were updated in 1988 with the 9924 and 9934 models, the 800 Plus and 1000 Deluxe versions respectively, and maybe a MicroProfile model which I can't seem 2 find any info on. They had the "Bow Tie" motif above the dials and would run until 1990, by then it was updated with the new drum and door design.

So, there's no 800 Deluxe model made, but this is the 1st 5 years of Hotpoint washer dryers covered.

Hotpoint's washer dryer was the 9900 which was a New Generation machine, it had a chrome door and everything New Gen, and span at 1000rpm. It lasted only six months, appearing near to then end of the New Generation Run. On the fascia it was known as 'Combination Washer Dryer De Luxe L.E' (low energy, it would wash at 10 degrees lower than its written programme unless the heavy soil/super wash button was pressed).

Mid 1986 when the range was updated, we had the 9901 Washer Dryer 1000 De Luxe and the introduction of a slower speed model, the 9920 Washer dryer 800 plus. The washer dryer 9901 was also a Low Energy model but the 9920 was not. 1988 saw the slightly redesigned 9924 and 9934 models, which were 800rpm and 1000rpm, with the 800 being a plus model and 1000 beind the De Luxe model, having low energy programmes.

I would have said that the De luxe models were so as they had faster spin speeds and low energy programmes, however after 1990 it is not as clear cut as it should be as Hotpoint introduced an even faster washer dryer (9936 which had a 1200rpm spin) and scrapping the low energy programmes (with only one model having them).

There were no Hotpoint Microprofile washer dryers until 1990 when the 9945 came out.

I think the 800 De Luxe washing machine models were given that title as they had more options (four in total) than the 800 plus which had only two.

@miele4life, I never thought of the 9900, that was a New Generation Washer/Dryer.
Was the 9901 a New Gen or a Next Gen? As it had the Electronic symbol on it which I think belonged to all New Generations and the Liberator Era machines.

ultimafan, I do love the chrome doors, something which Hotpoint should've kept on their Next Generations (though I believe the 9555 - 9570 had chrome doors).

I was wondering what "De Luxe" was about, I was wondering, what is the difference between a Hotpoint Electronic 800 Plus and an Electronic 800 De Luxe, though I would go for a De Luxe machine.

the 9901 was a Next Gen machine, while the difference between the Electronic 800 Plus and Electronic 800 Deluxe is that the former has 2 buttons and the latter has 4 buttons.

Ah right so that explains why my Nan's 9517 had 2 and yet my other nans 9526 had 4, at least that's a way of indentifying which variant it is.
