So I am working on a GE laundry system model GUD27ESSJ1WW. The problem is that when set to hot water wash, the washer will fill with hot water, but as soon as the lid is closed, it switches to cold until filled. Open lid is hot, closed lid is cold. The hoses aren't swapped. I checked on Google, there are others with this complaint, but no answers. Ideas?

Coldspot66, it just may be a programming decision they may be on purpose, sort of to fool customers while the lid is open, then fill with cold when it is closed. I want to test some machines the next time I go do a service call on similar units, to see if they act the same.

If anyone has a GE laundry system (made by GE, not Frigidaire), please test and tell me what you see.

I see we've got some dedicated people here who prefer, insist, that they want the freedom they are entitled to.
Just like me.
Which reminds me, I'm gonna pop the control panel off my Maytag A482 to trace the wiring out (a schematic would help)
I want, and I better get...... a warm rinse added to the machine.
Even if I have to add a toggle switch to parallel the damn water solenoids!
I'd rather it be Hot-Warm and Warm-Warm automatically.
To heck with the cold only system.

Unplug the machine, remove the 2 inner Phillip screws on top of the control panel strip, and the console will tilt back.

The schematics will be taped to the back of the console if no one has remove it.
