Washer Restorations

I LOVE coming to this area and looking at all the great and neat washers from the past that have been restored to like new condition and performance by you guys. It's very fascinating.

My question: as far as parts, labor, expense etc., which brand(s) have been the easiest to restore, and which have been more difficult?

Maytag and Kenmore are relatively easy to restore compared to other brands. I don't have much expereience but aside from parts, ABC's and Kelvinators are supposed to be easy to work on. Unimatics of course are re-operable, again parts may be difficult to find.

I am going to go out on a limb and say that the washer-dryer combination units are probably the most difficult to restore! My GE combo that I got in 2007 still doesn't function as dryer, however that will change!!
The Westy Laundromats are not too bad to work on either, IMHO.

of the ones i have,the DD whirlpools and kenmores and GE
filter flos are very easy to work on with BD whirlpools just
slightly tougher.Have had spots of difficulty with my maytag
and one of my speed queens.
I had trouble getting parts for a 1970 hotpoint back in 1981,
so not sure of the parts situation for those,early norges,
earier speed queen etc.
