Washer Transmission Oil

Was wondering if it is a good idea to change out the transmission oil in my vintage Maytag washer? I am considering draining the old oil and replacing with fresh new oil. How would I drain out the old and is there a fill plug somewhere on top?

No drain plug, and no fill plug. Disassembly is required.

Guess I'll just leave well enough alone unless there is a problem. I am sure that oil is in need of changing though.

Near complete disassembly is required simply to remove the transmission.

At that point you're into full overhaul territory. Not a bad idea on a vintage machine but I would get prepared with the tools and replacement parts needed. Also, expect it to take longer and be more work than you imagine.
