I was watching the episode where Aunt Bee won all the appliances on a quiz show and noticed the washer & dryer were brown RCA Whirlpools circa 1965 but I was trying to figure out what make the coin-op washers were on the episode that Andy opened a coin laundry. They were pink, had a round window in the lid and looked like Frigidaire jet cone machines. Does anyone know for sure what they were?

Well, I remember a wringer on the back porch & there was an episode where Andy opened a coin laundry to help pay for Opie's on-coming college expenses...

A side note: Opie was baking cookies with Thelma Lou (an episode where she seemingly was spending more time with Opie than Barney) so there was a General Electric refrigerator & push-button stove--and I only remember seeing those appliances & that one shot just ONE TIME!

TAGS was very big on General Electric Appliances, (Andy's refrigerator was a GE, as was the 40" electric stove, after it staring off as a 40" (don't know brand) Gas) but, yes, Aunt Bee won Whirlpool stuff in that later, color-episode...

just a slight switching of tracks...

Like so many members, I'm always on the lookout for vintage appliances in classic television shows. In "Dennis the Menace" Alice Mitchell sure had a very nice Whirlpool in her laundry room, although shots of it are few and far between. I do recall an episode where the machine was over-suds which I'm sure had something to do with the lead character.

I know that with just this one photo there are people on here who can not only tell you everything about the washer, but also the mixer, the gas range and the dinnerware too. Now back to our regular program, The Andy Griffith Show...

I remember an episode of Nanny and the Professor....

apparently one of the kids caught a huge fish, maybe a bass, and was debating on letting it go back into the river/lake, or keep it.....

the only thing big enough at home to keep him in was their Maytag washer....I think they removed the agitator so he had more room to swim in a circle....

I just remember them opening the lid to show us the fish....

When the tv series "Family" came out in the mid-70's they had what appeared to be a Whirlpool gas dryer with a window and the washer was a Kenmore then a '66 Frigidaire CI. Some shows they switched the machines from side to side.
The cars were supplied by Ford, and it wasn't long before an old "Miss America" looking Philco took the place of the Frigidaire.
I recall thinking it was pretty goofy to switch-out the washers, and yet,never show a new one.

"Family" TV series;

at least the first episodes had a Kenmore combo washer/dryer and a Frigidaire washer to it's left. A Kenmore dryer never had a round chrome framed window, not by the 60's.

P&G a sponsor too?

Thanks for the link, Pat, that was a really good shot of the Frigidaire washer. There was one episode where a handyman was working around the house and the Buddy took him under her wing, etc., but there was a mention of fixing the washer as one of his tasks. Show that on screen! lol
