Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

But it's a franken-flo

Look inside, it has a Hotpoint tub. I didn't make it, I got it at a used appliance store. I think this is the last year for Filter-flo, so maybe they used what ever parts they had. Or maybe the dealer put it together.

In any case, any filter-flow is fun. And it really gets out that dog hair!!

Here is the second DW I grew up with, circa 1974/1975.
Sears Kenmore by D&M.

Of course, it has the requisite wood paneled front of that era.
Two position Roto-Rack (rotating round upper rack.)
Lights, oh so many lights

A red neon pilot over the timer.
2 x 10w bulos over the chrome rectangular buttons.
..and FOUR neons where it says in script "Water Temperature Indicator" These were:

~COOL
~NORMAL
~SANI
~DELAY

Power miser cool-dry selector switch and a fan to assist dry.

Gansky's NIB Sears portable DW reminds me of this one.

LOL

Who ever she is/was,
she looks good!

(Nice DW, I've had about 5 of those, some portable. None had that cool 70s wood panel though)

:oD

Steve, aside form the hot/cool dry option (offered at the very tail end of the series), that is the exact same model we had in the house in Houston. I believe bought late 1972 or early 1973. It was replaced by teh same GSD1200 as I have here in 1988.

Bob,

I still remember this machine fondly! Thanks for the info.!

The fan on mom's was exceedingly loud and vibrated. Had to shim it up with wood to keep it quiet. Did it push air in, or pull air out? I'm starting to forget.I think it used to pull air out which was was not good for the cabinets. Similalry there was an air inlet near the bottom of the door....

ge filter flo

that ge washer (at least those older ones) rock! there better than the one my parents bought in 2002! we still have it and thanks to the info from you fellow members i was able to diagnose the problem( well they were). anyways my EX girlfriend had that same type of machine with that pan filter on the top it was really good at collecting lint, evil lint lol! i remember i left a pair of pants in her bookbag (to long of a story) and the pants had some washed tissue in the pockets all she did was put them to wash and the pockets came out clean! the tissue was all in that filter! i saw it for myself. good work ge! they should have left that same engineering design its a hell of alot better than the more modern ones!
