Hey everyone, I thought I would share this as I found this whole thing a bit amusing:

You can sit on a washing machine, but that doesn't make it a chair. A transformation like the one industrial designer Antonina pulled off does make it a chair, though. And there are even DIY instructions so you can try too, if you're into that sort of thing.

As part of a project with the incredibly appropriate title "I used to be a washing machine," Antonina carefully dissected and old washer to make not one, not two, but three different flavors of chair, each a wonderfully stark piece of furniture in its finished form. It's not totally clear if each is mutually exclusive or not, though...

Interesting

I guess they will have some way to recycle the dead machines that are heading to the landfill.

if a machine can be repurposed....then why not?.....some people have some crafty ideas, turning them into treasures, never know unless you try...

wasn't it Fred who made this night light out of a blender.....beautiful and ingenious!.....I think even the switches operate and dim the light...looking for one like it and do the same...

I was at an antique store and they had a washer tub light. They wanted about $200 for it. I figured I could make one for a lot cheaper. I had an extra tub from a parts machine and the paint and materials cost less than $50.

that tub light is killer.....add a little motion and you got a disco ball....we're game!....

the rest of you guys have had to create something along your trails.....show us what you got!.....stack filterflo pans into a rotating spice rack!....share your great ideas

well, there was RevvinKevin demonstrating a dishwasher as a lawn sprinkler/ornament......

Rollermatic/Pete.....with that spectacular kitchenaid spray arm in the pond, tell me that is not the coolest thing ever....top that!

That blender now sits on my desk as a desk-lamp at work. :-) I found an older Oster beehive that I turned into a lamp... and took over as nightlight in our bathroom. So many people at work stop and ask why I have a blender on my desk -- then I turn it on and they go "ooooh". Lol! The knob is just an on/off switch, not a dimmer. The washer tub chandolier is really cool and a really great idea!
