Water inlet problem

Hello everybody!!!!

I presume you are all familiar with the little trap on the water inlet hose on washing machines and dishwashers...
I suspect that in my washer and dishwasher they have got some sand etc because I feel that the water goes in with less pressure.....

However everything seems to work as normal...

I am not willing to move the machines out of the cabinets and clean the traps/filters as it is a nightmare taking them out and placing them back in....

Do you thing it could cause any problems or affect the washing performance in the long term?

If I see that the problem gets bigger I will have to clean them of course...

For now you will probably be ok.

As you suspect, in the long-term you may have to clean out those screens whether you want to or not!

Washers with metered fill will tolerate this longer than dishwashers with timed fill. The diaphragm in the fill valve of my WP-made dishwasher developed a condition (atrophy?) that slowed the flow of water and the machine's performance fell because the water level was too low so the valve had to be rebuilt.

On the other hand, it might not be anything in the valve, but the little screens on the outside of the valve where the hose attaches might be clogging with sand or minerals. If possible, and if this is a recurring problem, maybe you could look into installing a whole house filter in the cold water line to catch sand before it causes further problems.
