I just pruchased my first Easy Spindrier. A 1940's that sat in a basement unused for 60 years. When I use it I find the water won't drain from the spinner tub and fly's out the top. The drain must be corroded or plugged in some way. Also the small lever on the front is stuck and won't move up or down to drain the wash tub. Any ideas how to fix these problems? I'm too excited with my "new" machine and would love to use it. Thanks for all your help and I look forward to hear from any one with answers.

I looked and there are service manuals for Easy Spindriers so you might want to download it. Repairs can be simple sometimes but I think you'll have some rush and crap to deal with. Just be careful. Take pics as you deconstruct it. Post pics of problems here and I'm sure people will help.

HI there, Try this and see what happens. Put the washer down, on its back,(use a heavy quilt so you won't damage the machine), and lubricate the cables and the ends that attach to the back of the dials. Make sure the pump diverter wrorks freely when the cables pull it both to Spin- drain and Wash-drain. If you have lubricated everything up well and still no water draining, put some real hot water in the washer drain and at the bottom of the spinner drain. Let it sit and see if this will free things up enough for the drain diverter will move. If not, you will have to take the clamp at the bottom of the drain off and clean out all of the lime and soap build up. When you have done this and the diverter works well, put the seal and the clamp back on. Be careful that you don't tighten too much or you could break the end of the housing etc. Make sure the gasket is in the proper position. Good luck. Gary

For any year of Spindrier there were 4 models. Top (all features), Med Hi (one feature missing like dual speed), Med Lo (two features missing like one of the builtin faucets), low (basic, most features missing). If you can post a photo or several that will help define which you have.
In one configuration, the spinner is SUPPOSED to pump 'out the top', through a faucet into a washtub (they assumed everyone had). IOW, what you have COULD be working perfectly, it's just not a configuration anyone today could be expected to recognize.
Except the lower handle SHOULD move and permit draining the washtub. If you were 70yo you'd be stiff too (I am, and I am). See the suggestions above about hot water. Jiggle, don't force. You don't want to add problems.

I don't believe that Easy ever drained the spin tub out of the top. there were various methods for stopping the water from draining early models only had a valve for stopping the spin tub from draining with a ball type valve take screwed down to stop the spin tub from draining and I believe that the screw down valve could either be on a hose or a faucet type. Also some spin tubs had the spin drain in the lever of the spinner control. My Grandmother and mother both had spin driers from the forties fifties and sixties.

Grandma's Easy had one faucet, which turned on and off with the washtub valve. To save suds one opened the ball valve on the end of the drain hose and put it through the hole in the wash side lid (or just over the edge). To FILL the spinner with rinse water one swung the faucet over the spin side, turned on the washtub faucets, left the hose ball valve closed. One could also do a spray rinse with the drainhose open and the faucet over the spin lid hole. Hers did not have the needle spray spin basket.
It wasn't TOL, closer to bottom but certain bottoms had no faucet at all, you used a hose from the washtub for all filling. This was in the early 50s.
Can't remember now if G'ma did only spin rinses or followed with agitate rinse (which I have always done). Think we just spin rinsed until the drain water ran clear.
