Quite some time ago I posted a picture of a mid century Chevy Dealer that was going to be demolished. I was a little upset about it at the time, fond memories and all that. I guess I wasn't alone....

Here is the building that will go up in its place....

Look at the front portico. Thought this was kind of cool, and wanted to share. =)

I'd rather see the original building put to use instead of seeing a multi-story building put in it's place.

I think that new building is ugly.

I feel the same way about the local buildings in Wichita. We have a nice downtown area, with many period buildings. From the turn of the century to the art-deco era. They decided we needed a new event arena.

Now we have this huge eyesore in the middle of the historic downtown district! Not to mention that this is intended to seat about 15,000 people. No parking garage. There's a terrible problem with downtown parking as it is. Where are 15,000 people going to park?!?!

We also have a failed 'Water walk' project that was intended to revitalize the river front area. It sits half-finished.

ugh!
