Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Whirlpool had many different versions of spray rinses on their belt drive machines. I'm sure the ones that spray rinsed up to 7 pulses probably did a good job.

The only decent rinsing DD's were the Ultra Rinse models. Otherwise, they were pretty stingy and required a 2nd deep rinse.

Glen you have a lot of experience with Whirlpool/Kenmore belt drive machines correct ?

Do the older active self cleaning filters contribute to water aeration?

That's the only reason I can think of why the 74 Kenmore seems to get excessive suds sometimes.

I don't know my water hardness here but I think it is definitely on the softer side.

"I had trouble putting my socks on because they were so stiff and full of residue"

That reminds me of Fresh Start in the 1980's and 90's.

Actually early Fresh Start was phosphated...encrustation doesn't occur nearly as badly with some STPP in the formula.  Later it became only available nonphosphate.

<blockquote>QSD-Dan:  Whirlpool had many different versions of spray rinses on their belt drive machines. The 1976 (18#) machine was much less chronic with that problem.  Perhaps 1) detergent sudsing profiles were reduced or 2) there was a design change that eased it.

I've not had rinsing trouble with any the direct-drives I've used.
