yes and they say that if Aspirin, which I strongly consider a miracle drug, was introduced in 2009 instead of 1899, that the FDA would have NEVER considered it safe for human consumption. Makes you think about JUST how many drugs are being scrapped yearly that would put an end to HIV, arthritis forever, Hepatitis, and many others too numerous to count that are killing people slowly while the FDA plays god.

There already ARE cures for these diseases/ailments.....but we'll never see them since the FDA is in bed with he Pharmaceutical companies. I could tell you stories that would (should) make you angry as Hell!!!

yes ...very true...I have a surgeon/friend and he told me there is a cure for cancer and HIV, but the medical profession wouldn't get their greedy funding if they used the cure....and the really sad part is its not a miracle drug...it something they already had all along...

there was a guy on the news back a few weeks ago....he had cancer...cured it himself with some kind of radio waves at home and the FDA and federal gov't came in and took all his reports and computer files...what are they afraid of...puttig them out of business...that it doesn't cost a fortune to cure...FDA commented tha there was no real cure but that they wanted to use his info to study for a possible cure...why dont I believe them...and why do they have him locked up....we know what their really up to...

I follow the science world more closely than most (still a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science), and I can assure you there is no such "cure" for HIV as yet. There are some promising leads, but we've seen promising leads before with no successful conclusion.

As for economic incentive... if there was such a cure the pharma companies would be champing at the bit to produce and market it. In the USA alone the market would be huge and extremely profitable.

The problem with HIV is that traditional vaccine technology simply doesn't work because the virus tricks the immune system into destroying itself. Antiviral medications prolong life but are no cure. Some individuals have genetic resistance to HIV-I but not to some other later strains. The latest promising alternative approach is to implant genetically engineered material into muscle tissue. It then produces a protein that interferes with HIV's ability to infect cells. It's worked in mice and is being tested in monkeys. Obviously such an approach has unknown risks and human trials are a way off. Not much consolation to someone who is infected but nobody said life was fair.

Well suds, if a person is ultimately going to most likely die of such diseaeses, then why put off human trials on such people? If I were faced with such, I would say go for it, what do I have to lose.GREED GREED GREED.

oh my paws and whiskers

Look, nobody will ever accuse me of not jumping on the "big business is bad" bandwagen.

But all this nonsense here about how the Feds and the pharmaceutical industry is hiding a cure for Aids is absurd.

There happens to be a world of scientific and medical research outside of the US. Since someone raised the topic, actually, we are rather more advanced in many areas of science and medicine, not having to cope with the christianists.

And we haven't found any cures, miracle or otherwise for Aids yet, either.

Did the US government under Ronnie Rayguns actively do its best to promote the death of gays? Yes.

Did the Bush#43 administration gut the FDC and research facilities working on solutions? You betcha'.

Which is one reason why gays who vote for Republicans are behaving in a manner I can't understand.

But does anyone really thing the money grubbing pharmaceuticals industry or the US government under a Constitutional executive would hide such a thing? No way! It would be worth billions in profits and guarantee Obama eternal saintly status (and a second term.)

Sheesh. I mean, really. Sheesh.

If you want to stop the Aids epidemic, stop having un-safe sex. Stop sharing needles. Stop discriminating against the folks unlucky enough to have contracted the disease or to have been infected by bad blood.

We need to invest money and resources in finding a cure and a vaccine - obviously. I cannot, however, think of one single viral disease which would be easier to eradicate with just a little common sense.

I remember hearing an alternative medicine guru (I think it was Dr. Weil) say that for cancer, at least, there are many people who have been cured with non-standard cures. Plus, there are, of course, people who've been cured by standard cures who shouldn't have been. But nothing had worked consistently enough to be fool proof. If we had a perfect cure for cancer, he said, we'd all know about it.
