Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

Best of luck with your new home, I hope you whip through all that packing/moving/unpacking. This last move and i hope its the last for a long time. We packed our bedroom furniture, then everyday towels a shower curtain & hooks, clean bed linens. Our tv and everything was set up in our room the first thing so when we gave out, we could rest. If your new place does not have window coverings, home depot sells "contractor" shades, a cheap fiber shade, pretaped and you adjust it with clothes pins to hold the pleats, to raise the shade. There a couple a bucks a window, but much less expensive than a poor decision when u are tired, stressed. best of luck alr2903

Congratulation Jim

on your new home purchase. Doesn't it feel good to have a place on your own where you can plant anything outside like and hang a dammed nail where you want to as well. Go ahead and put up a clothes line where you're at it! It's so nice to hear some good news coming out of Louisiana.

Congratulations!

If it's an older home, feel free to contact me with questions about how stuff works and how to maintain/repair stuff. I'm a historic preservationist, so old buildings are my life.

I'm about to attend a window restoration bootcamp in Mt. Carroll, IL to learn how to make old windows more energy efficient than new ones among other things.

Congratulations,
Dave

Thanks for all the kind words. We close on the house Friday made arrangements for the utilities today. I had to do it in person because my ID # didn't match the one they had on file. Couldn't figure out why, then remember it was a IL ID when I started the utilities for this house. I will start posting pics as soon as I can.

"learn how to make old windows more energy efficient than new ones" This sounds very interesting Dave keep me informed. I will give you a holler if we have any problems Dave. We have to buy a new stove, or see if the landlord here wants to sell this. Found a nice used Hardwick at a used appliance store for $150.00 plus $20.00. Also found a Kenmore belt drive with dual action agitator, and a Maytag square tub wringer washer. I kept telling myself stove before washers.

The laundry room is just off the Kitchen, but I'm not sure if the Frigidaire FL'ers will fit in there. Maytags might have to go in there, and FL'ers in the basement. I found water hook ups in the basement, but no gas hook up for the dryer.

Speaking of the hard hat zone. I was going downstairs from my bedroom this past Saturday, and the edge of one of the wooden steps broke, just as one of the dogs and I stepped on it (it has been bad for a while) the dog stumbled a little, but I went bouncing down the stairs on my butt! Can't wait to get out of here!!!!!

Everything is painted white or off white, but that will change in time. I'm thinking of doing my bedroom in Hunter Green and Burgundy or possibly Mauve.

Congratulations!!

I am so pleased that you found a decent place!! Hope there's a nice laundry room!! Email me with the details - there's a harvest gold housewarming present waiting for you!!

I was thinking of having a few extra water hookups and drain put in down in the basement and getting a couple more washers and dryers, at start my own laundry service, but I need to look into that some more. I think I will put the Maytag set in the upstairs laundry room, and the Frigidaires in the basement. After we close Friday and get the keys, I will try and get some pictures taken and get them posted.

WoW That's a quick closing

I had a pre-approved loan when I bought my house and with the inspections, title searches, this & thats. It took me a month to close, then another week to get the keys.

Count your blessings, this is going easy my broker told me it was mean to be. In your case it must be meant to be as well.

I'm just glad it happening this fast :-) We didn't go through a real estate company. The company we went through is First Financial Group, they provide home ownership to people who are unable to get a traditional mortgage, it's a rent to own type program. Our payment is $650.00 a month but that includes insurance, taxes, and our water bill. We can't have the water bill in our name until the house is paid off and the title is in our name.

I forgot to mention that the every room is carpeted except the front hall, kitchen, laundry room, and the bathrooms. I know this will sound kind of silly, but I'm excited about having carpeting again, I get to use my Kirby Legend II again!!!
