Well, I finally got my oven working. Took more drama than I'd initially expected, but the actual work was surprisingly easy. I had to replace the pilot/thermocouple combination with separate beasts. The biggest hassle was feeding a new pilot line down from the stove top and putting in an "extender" to get the pilot at the right height for the burner.

Unfortunately the original combo pilot/thermocouple isn't made and I couldn't clean up the old one, so this was what I was left to.

So now what to make first, something klassy! No frozen pizza (I'm reminded of my buddy who had a roommate come to him in tears asking "what does pre-heat mean..?")!

Main cooker? It's the only range in my kitchen.

The oven holds temperatures pretty well, so the thermostat works properly. The range does get hot to the touch though.

Thanks! I can't help you with the countertops, they came that way, they don't match anything that's still readily available (I'm guessing around 1960 when the kitchen was redone). I wish I had the laminate my parents had, circa 1970 trees on white, very cheerful and fun.

Garfield Chow = lasagne! I'm doing my bit to return Garfield to the top of the American Cartoon Feline Pyramid (Jim Davis is doing his bit by dating Taylor Swift - I read it online, it must be true!), his rightful place which will be reclaimed from the interlopers.

I knew, just knew, somebody would ask about that....

It's a Jenn-Air Atrezzi. I won it, believe it or not, in a raffle at a function for architects and designers. My buddies were like - "hey, that's your number"!! The other two prizes were a toaster and a blender, both of which I already had, so I was happy.
