Today we say a final goodbye to The Queen, Elizabeth Regina, our Queen for over 70 years, hard to imagine a life without her presence. We can honour her Royal Warrant on our most treasured Hoover Appliances - God Save The King !!

The 2nd photo is one I took in 1977 when The Queen visited right outside our house & St Helens Town for her jubilee in 1977, you can see the old pit of Sutton Manor, St Helens, now demolished & home to The Dream woodland and sculpture.[this post was last edited: 9/19/2022-04:32]

To Mike and All of Our Members In The UK

Since the live telecast of the Queen’s funeral began live at 2:30am our time we recorded it all. I’ve been watching it all morning.

What a fitting and moving celebration of her life and 70 years on the throne. Such a beautiful tribute to such a wonderful human being. She was truly one of a kind.

My condolences to all of the British people. For most of you she was the only Queen you’ve ever known. And that is the same for myself too.

May she rest in eternal peace by the side of her beloved Phillip.

God save the King.

Eddie

Handsome appliances and handsome blokes

Was there a dishwasher pictured? I recall seeing a Hoover dishwasher (with interior by Thermos) for the first time on a visit to South Africa in 1984.

I also recall a TV biodocumentary that mentioned that Her Majesty the former WWII army mechanic and amateur photographer was quite enamored of gadgets of many sorts. Some film of the royal family was taken herself with a movie camera that she owned. So, I like to imagine that the royal visit to that factory may have been a treat for her as well as the workers.

We Say Goodbye to Our Queen, Elizabeth Regina !!

Morning Eddie & many Thanks for your thoughts, it was indeed a momentous occasion and military display, it will be interesting to see how the new King Charles, who was seamlessly transitioned as hereditary monarch, will takes The Monarchy forward and in what way, probably a more slimmed down monarchy fit for the current years.

We cannot underestimate how much Queen Elizabeth II transitioned The Monarchy from during the war years but as much is being muttered today as to how much the funeral and how much they cost from the public purse and how they should be funded going forward .

Going to be an interesting watch !!

We Say Goodbye to Our Queen, Elizabeth Regina !!

Morning Chris , Many Thanks for your reply , we think between us and keep hoping that The Queen was a closet "Hooverer" taking a midnight Hoover by Headlight down a palace corridor ha ha

We are trying to confirm if any Hoover Household washing machines where ever used in the palace laundries, it would be great if a twinny or keymatic was in regular use, certainly for small personal washes, we can but hope.

There was a few Hoover dishwashers made, here is a pic of the Hoover Autojet & Crystaljet which had the unique spinning baskets !!

Talking of midnight Hoovering

Mike, thanks for the pics of that interesting spinning basket washer that reminds one of the roto rack on the ancient and infamous D&M machines of the mid 1900s. I also puzzled whether Hoover household-grade laundry equipment may have been used in the palace laundries.

I recall that when they first said "I do", Kate and Prince William vowed to keep a house that felt more suburban than Royal with a minimal amount of servants. I am trying to imagine Kate throwing George's filthy playthings into the front loading washing machine or the Duke of Cambridge/Prince of Wales washing up the tea-things when their maid calls out ill.

Classy Folk

There have been no heads of state anywhere since Jack and Jackie that I have considered "classy".  To me, the Kennedys presented an excellent face as a couple and did a fabulous job of representing the USA.  However, I think I see the same combination of looks, grace and class in William and Kate that I saw in J & J.  Sorry, but I see none of that in Charles and his second wife.  I look forward to the day when the Crown is represented by William and Kate.

Re; Charles, JFK

Most think Charles will do fine. Some would have prefered William and Kate instaed though. They loved Diana, and if she were queen consort today, yes, Charles would be more renouned.
I know a few who hadn't voted for a U.S. president since JFK, until 2020 that is.
So there's that as well.
Then some want 2020 fixed. I've seen signs around. What those don't relaize is that with the scotus outlawing Rowe vs. Wade, our newest imigrants and some former minorities will be having more birth's, and that will further make white supremist's a minority.

I second all of this from the get...

Only queens as in Speed Queen, otherwise only appliance-related topics, though I've got a great automotive topic I would like to post...

No Green Forum or Brown Forum topics, which this may likely be, posted here...

Remembering The Queen

Morning Chris, yes weve often had discussions over here at the meets wondering if The Royal staff have been using the latest washers etc, many pics of the Hoover vacs being used,
here is The Queen visiting the Merthyr factory being shown the Keyplate from the latest Hoover Keymatic of which we use often...

ps, but I still wonder if Her Maj snook out a headlight Hoover up and down the corridors just for the fun of it !!

remembering The Queen

Lets not be too harsh on ourselves, its opened lots of debate here moving forward but for now we can remember history as it was and the perhaps allow debate for how it will all be seen moving forward for next generations to read about.

Hi Dave , I did think when it auto generated but am sure the webmaster will move if a problem and I did smile as there are more links in the Vintage forum as we have posted all those Hoover products we repair and use with The Royal Warrant on..
