Re.G.E. Dryer

Trainguy that Ge. dryer we had when I was growing up at home. It was a good dryer and had it quite a long time. Wish they still made them like they used to. Thanks for a trip down memory lane. Danf.

Hotpoint dryers were their own unique product until the early seventies; then they became bebadged GE's. Although I have also learned on this site that the 31" huge capacity GE dryer that was sold between 1969 and the late seventies was originally a Hotpoint design. An old friend of mine who was in the appliance business in the 50's and 60's said that GE used Hotpoint as a testing ground for new gizmos, bells and whistles. There was always some give and take.

Hotpoint dryer

Atlanta
they sure did We had one when I was ten years old growing up in NJ. it took for ever to dry the clothes. I rember that the hose from it was hung over the laundry tub and their was a small steady stream of warmish water comming out with globs of lint in the water. it always clogged the drain up. you had to be careful if you opened the door during drying or you would get a face full of hot steam. the push buttoms were lit in different colors when pushed. hi was red, med was pink lo was amber and the air was blue assunimg that my memory is correct and that was 43 years ago in 1964. by 1966 we had a Hotpoint Siloette 16 until I come back to CA in 1998. good reliable dryer.
