will it be acceptable, at least on an interim basis, to return to vacuum cleaner chat on this off-topic section of the forum?

=I= for one certainly promise to behave nicely!

Very, very, VERY sad about what has happened.

Some things are best left unsaid.

Suffice it to BE said that the Vacuumland Forum has been closed, until further notice.

It would totally NOT be appropriate

to bring whatever closed vacuumland down over here.

I am not a member of vacuumland or the VCCC, this is a nice friendly place, and I hope it stays that way.

Jeff, Charles Richard and others,

As you can see, I've already started posting here since the members at vacuumland can't handle a forum. I, as always, will be the paragon of virture!

PS---Charles, if they only knew!

Suffice it to BE said that the Vacuumland Forum has been clo

I have been a dues paying member of VCCC for several years now. The Forum is my chief contact with the club and following it I have come to “know” of many members.

I have belonged to many organizations and am very familiar with the politics and other dynamics that unfortunately tend to come up and sometimes can be very destructive to an organization.

I have been increasingly concerned with what I have perceived as problems developing in the VCCC.

Without any personal attack on the person that posted this, in my opinion the statement that "Some things are best left unsaid" - from my personal point of view - personifies what is wrong with the administration of the VCCC.

The actions of the administration of the club in silencing discussion and those persons that are trying to open discussion is rapidly disillusioning this once enthusiastic member.

In a world where civil liberties are constantly being challenged, I am very sensitive to censorship – for those things “left unsaid” for those things one is not supposed to question.

The abrupt and arbitrary closing of the forum has left me quite pessimistic as to the future of the VCCC as an open and democratic organization.

I am personally very sad and disillusioned about the turn of events

I apologize for posting this on AutomaticWasherOrg, and I agree that this issue is basically inappropriate to this forum.

At this point the vacuum people do not have a forum where we can freely speak so I ask your brief indulgence.

David Lewis

NO! I recieved two emails concering the mess over at VCCC (why me?) and i promptly deleted both. IF you can not be an adult and handle an open fourm for posting, then please do not post at all. I would welcome any one who can be friendly and in the guidelines of this club... Chad

I would agree that bringing whatever closed vacuumland to this site would be inapropriate, but I would like to have a place to talk about vacuums.

We just have one rule here....be nice! We've all been through our share of BS, and we all seem to have come around it nicely. Remember, you don't have to agree with your fellow posters, but that is not an open license to launch an attack. Respectfully agree to disagree. We've got some pretty wonderful folks here, and a terrific webmaster, too. It's a place many of us enjoy coming to regularly to chat, so let's keep it that way. I personally welcome any and all to our family here...the more the merrier. I hope everyone else feels that way, too.

vacuumland

I tried posting there once or twice when the club was new, but found it to be entirely un-welcoming if not downright off-putting.

It seems like if you're not a dues paying member, you're not welcome to post.

Fooey on 'em.

They suck, and their site just didn't wash.
No surprise to me it's closed already.

Happily Hoovering in Hollywood,

Bob

While I do agree that what happened should NOT be carried over to here, I do hope to continue vacuum discussion here since the forum has been shut down.

Y'all TOTALLY missed my point.

I was not saying that the issue with Vacuumland should not be discussed AT ALL. I was saying that it should not be discussed HERE.

aye aye
Now here's a should I or shouldn't I...
There's a scruffy looking Eureka WidePath sitting right now at a local thrift store for $5. The handle and bag etc are all in good condition, only the motor housing is severely scraped up and would require repainting. I hummed and hawed over it, will I ever get round to repainting it, that sort of questioning, so I left it...
