Were these still good Amanas?

My neighbor used to have an Amana like this. I loved it, the design had enough chrome to look vintage. There was a sensor that would turn the dispenser light on when it got dark. She had a rather dark kitchen, so it tended to stay on all the time. This was pre R134A pre 1994, the next version is more rounded.

Were these still built as well as the older Amanas were?

Personally, I love these Amanas. Built nicely, and seem to run forever. Downside to a lot of them is some bad discoloration if you have white/ivory trim pieces--almost all stuff like that from the 80s and 90s ages very badly.

I Had one of these Amanas many, many years ago and was very happy with it (aside from the cabinet being very bulky--I happen to prefer built-in or counter depth size. The one that's always been elusive is the 27 cu. ft. one with the Touchmatic controls on the outside--between the upper handle trim. These aren't the best pics…saved from an old CL ad.
