Hello all

Looking for a motor pulley for my Westinghouse laundromat model LB6M. part # 1347337 the rubber part has dry rotted and come off of it, the part that drives the pump wheel. I tried to glue it back on, but it did not last.

any help would be great

thanks

Chris

Chris,  I can't remember exactly how the pump drive wheel was attached.  Would it be possible to substitute a caster wheel?

Absolute worst case scenario would be to replace the motor-driven pump with an electric one from a newer type washer.  You can feed the power to the pump from the supply to the pump solenoid.  It may be a better long-term solution as a replacement pump is not something that you can find all that easily.

Friction drive?

Is that molded rubber around the outside, which in turn drives the pump by friction? At first glance I was thinking it was rubber in between a metal hub and metal outer ring setup to dampen noise.

Yes the rubber part on the pulley drives the pump wheel. I think it may have come apart because the motor was getting hot, do to a start capacitor going bad. I was told that a bad capacitor can cuse the motor to get hoter than it should. I found a new capacitor on ebay for 6.00 so I will just replace it any way.

I was thinking ....

it might be caused by the pump bearing. If it is starting to seize (lack of grease, worn, etc) and now harder to turn, it overheated the rubber on the pulley due to the added friction ..... just a thought
