As you all probably know, Dave and I have tried our hardest to get the I Love Lucy 1951 Westinghouse Refrigerator working.... We have come to the unfortunate conclusion that the compressor is dead.

I've found one in New Jersey. It works, but the owner wants to get rid of it.

I've written you-crate, but they want more money than I can afford.

Since I can't afford to have it shipped, I'd like to get parts off it. Stuff for the interior is no problem, however, the seller isn't able to get the compressor off the fridge. Would someone in New Jersey be willing to get the part off it I need?

If not, would someone else be interested in the fridge? It's in fair shape. I hate to see it destroyed. Here are a couple of pictures the seller sent me.

Looks like that fridge is definitely worth saving. I hope somebody grabs it. If yours is in better shape then it would be great if this could be a donor fridge if someone near it can get it for you. Otherwise keep looking for other old Westies as I'm sure the compressors are interchangeable for certain models that were manufactured within a few years of each other.

Looks like the handle mechanism isn't nearly as prone to failure like the one on the '49 I grew up with.
