1953 Laundry twins

Wow! It looks like this set was in use until recently. Amazing! It doesn't say if they work or what kind of condition they are in. Cosmetically they look pretty fine. Ask seller for more info and start your bid low. Good luck!

They look like they could be Canadian-built units. The U.S.-made machines from '53 on, didn't have that cosmetic "ridging" (or, whatever you call it) on the center of the cabinet just below the "slope."

Offer them $100.These are the ones that came with the houses in the neighborhood where I grew up.My parents turned them down(I wasn't around yet)because they already had a Bendix Economat w/ a rubber tub.A year after three tub replacents,They got a new Easy Rivera model two speed washer with the Spiral agitator. They also got a Sears Kenmore gas dryer. The washer took its last dump in October of '63 and we went o Sears and got the 1964 Lady Kenmore gas combination washer-dryer.

Most of our neighbors kept the westinghouse laundromat twins up to around 1975.The only ones I know that may still have theirs (the Schumchecks)also have the 1961 'Programed Computor'model with the rectangular window."flush, lift, turn, tumble 52 times a minute and free rinse,a spray of cool water as the wash water is draining before the first deep rinse to free clothes of lint and scum."

Got to save a picture of these for the archives! They do look like they were just used, sitting there in the laundry room. Rare that a set like that is up for sale.

These are the machines that 1st made me fall in love with washers and dryers. My Mom must have washed a half a million loads in these with her beauty salon towels she washed daily plust my families clothes. I will never forget my Dad fussing about having to go into the washer to remove a coin that would lodge itself somewhere in the washer and make noise. It was always a dime and he still has several of those dimes he removed. They looked like they were cut down to half thier size on a lathe. Pretty good memories watching those towels flip flop in those windows.

we had this washer when I was

a kid growing up. I'll never forget watching thru that window at the wash as it was going.

Get 'em.

memories too

my grandmother had this set... i remember them vaguley, however i have seem them in pictures in an album of my family.. i was so intrigued at a very early age with this particular machine... she did get a westinghouse front loader then again in 1970 or so, with an oval shaped window. i remember watching her weigh the clothes on the door.. and always thought that was very progressive.. i remember the inside of that machines drum was very dark, and if i remember correctly, one of the "paddles were in red the other black...
what a cool machine, and such great memories of her along with that machine....11 kids- it was always running..
thanks for bringing that memry back to mind...
