I almost bought this set today but decided not to as I am way too busy this spring to deal with any more appliances. I had made her an offer which she accepted.

she has them listed on e bay. again a Westinghouse front loader spacemates washer and gas dryer. they look decent and I found parts on the various part supply places on line, including bearings and seal.

would love to have that washer but I still have 3 rollermatic frigidaires patiently waiting for me to attend to.

I told her I would put a note here to help her sell them.

and I will finish by saying I have that bendix washer from around 1946 that I really want to get rid of so I will give it away to a loving home! I am in cinti. and can't ship it so you would have to arrange shipping yourself or be one of the ohio guys that could easily grab it!

thanks

pete

hi robert

yes those are the one's. I also need to clarify that I did not bid on these items on e bay. I sent her a note saying if she didn't sell them on e bay I would buy them for an offer I made to her.

I have no need for the dryer as I have no gas where I live but told her I would take them both if they had sentimental value and would store the dryer. something in me will not let me pitch half of a beautiful old set of westinhouses! my main interest was in the washer and I still want it!

so I told her to try and get her price on e bay and if she can't get a deal to call me back in a few weeks and I will buy them. I'm hoping she finds a buyer so I don't take on 2 more appliances I really don't need. she did tell me today she had a potential buyer but would have to ship them and she would rather sell to me here locally if I wanted them. she seems very honest as she also said I was her her first inquiry and she would sell to me first.

had I bid on e bay I would have kept my word as I always have when bidding!

White-Westinghouse

Good set!    I have the same thing in white with an electric dryer!

Based on the knobs (and color) in the photos, these is probably from the early 90's (mine are 1994) .   If so, the washer has a variable speed / reversing DC motor.   The reverse tumble washing avoids the tangling / balling of the older, one-direction-only washers and it's also noticeably "smoother" when going into spin.   The thing I really like is YOU are in control of the water level!

Best of luck to moving them on to someone else IF you get them Pete!

from what i see

from parts diagrams on that model no. it is the dc motor type. all it has is a motor, belt, and pulleys, no other transmission parts like the old one's had.

I might change my mind and call her tomorrow and go ahead and get them, if no one else grabs it.

i think i have changed my mind

and am going to buy them afterall! I called the lady tonite to see if her offer to let me have them was still good. looks like I will be picking them up Monday morning.

I will store the dryer in my shed in the back yard unless someone here is interested in it. I am only interested in using the washer.

Last 3 belt stack Westinghouse pair in almond

Hi Pete, We have an almond pair of these that are fully restored [ electric dryer ] that I want to sell, $200 for the washer and $75 for the dryer, I will sell them separately. Jason rebuilt both a few years ago including new bearings and seals and then just used them for a month or so. This way you will not have another project starring at you.

I can't tell from the ad if it is a 3 belt or the DC motor single belt washer. Both are neat washers in different ways, but I think the 3b machines are more fun, [ I have 4-3B machines and one single belt machine in our collection.

The 3B machines do not tangle if you use the correct water level for the load you are washing and I believe that reverse tumbling in washers and dryers does very little good, the only reason that most FL washers now reverse is that with modern motors and speed controls it costs nothing to do so. Frigidaire even made a reverse tumble version of this dryer for a few years and it had no benefit at all [ actually took longer to dry ] and they quickly dropped that idea.

Pete let me know if interested, I will be coming out to the Cleveland area around late June and could easily bring it that far, John.

hi john,

I will take your machine and will also take the dryer. I can meet you in Cleveland this summer just let me know when.

also, i'm trying to find a good home for my bendix, would you want it? last time I played with it about 4 years ago it ran fine and did not leak except around the door seal.

it's from the late 40's and there is no way I can scrap it! it's too classic! I think I will build another shed in my backyard this summer for the over flow of the machines I can't pitch but really don't want. if you want it it's your's!

I will e mail you directly here as well. but consider those machines sold!

Bendix

If John doesn't want it I would be interested in it. I haven't checked the threads lately ( my mom is moving ) or I would have contacted you sooner. Jeb

i did not buy

the Westinghouse set here in cinti. went to pick it up this morning and almost had the washer loaded in my jeep, went to pay her and she wanted $100.00 more than what I told her I would buy it for originally.

so she still has the set available, just make sure you clarify a price with her! i thought I had!

I do definitely want your set (combo52) and again will meet you in Cleveland whenever you like. even if I had bought her set I still wanted your's.

and I will contact you all personally via e mail concerning my bendix I am trying to find a good home for.
