I believe that these were like the Revco "Built in" refrigeration units. They were not hung on the wall but recessed into wall space. Due to thick Fiberglas insulation in the walls, the usable space was quite limited.

They said in the article, only 15 were made. I can see that it wouldn't be extremely useful in a family house.
