Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

It does look un-used, but the second Humidrawer is missing.

Outwardly it's nearly identical to the '49 I grew up with, but it's missing the Lucite trim around the handle unless it never had it to begin with.

The price is a little steep even in such great condition.

Rob, I see what you mean.  It's odd, but does appear that there was only one Humidrawer to start with.

The door handles on Westies from this period are the Achilles heel.  The design is such that over time, the handle eventually wrenches loose from the pins it rotates on.  That's what happened with ours, and in its last days when it lived in the garage my dad used a spring-loaded clamp around the assembly to keep the handle in place.

49 or 50!

I think 49, we had a 50 my Grandparents bought new from Leftwitch Electric Co in Lenoir NC to replace the 38 Apex they bought when the REA brought power up to our house, it remained there till the early 70s when my Uncle bought us a much newer GE and took the WH to his summer house in West Yellowstone montana, he sold the property in the late 90s and it was still running and probably still is ...im still mad at him!!! Westinghouse is in my opinion, the best fridge ever!
