So, frustrated by the lack of a working Westinghouse dryer in the collection, I started to investigate that CD6 dryer that I picked up last August. Hubby was a bit annoyed - I started in on this just before we were supposed to drive back to Montreal for a holiday get-together...
Brief history: the dryer was part of a set I had tried to buy nearly 2 years ago, then I lost contact with the seller. The dryer (paired with a CL8 Laundromat) is a Canadian-made set and they had been purchased for and installed in a luxurious summer home near Lake Simcoe in Ontario. When I tested the machine while it was still hooked up, I found it wouldn't run. BUT the former owner had a service manual for a D3 dryer and yes, that is a full wiring diagram still on the access panel!

Possible cause of why it won't run??

I found this broken wire coming from the starting relay going to a safety thermostat - this might explain why the machine was 'dead'... I figured I should check out the rest of the wiring, since the machine showed signs of providing affordable housing for mice when the former owners home was closed for the winter. Me and mice... GRRRR!

Buried treasures?

As I took the machine apart for inspection, I found a lot of stuff you wouldn't expect to find in a dryer. Lint - yes. Dust - sure. Golf tees - What the ????

Pennies from heaven??

More likely pockets, I guess...
I had to stop work at this point, but the good news is that the rest of the wiring looks good. I will do some component testing and if all goes well, I'll fix that bad connection and try hooking it up this coming weekend! Getting this working would be a most suitable Christmas present!!
