Paul, congratulations! I have one word for you: diligence... and it sure paid of in spades!

It really reminds me of the one my grandmother used to have, I think hers was the same model!

Another fantastic, awesome job Paul!

It looks like a million bucks!

Mesmerized in St. Louis

Hello Paul:

Congratulations on your beautiful craftsmanship. Please tell us more about how you so successfully repainted the graphics on the two control dials. 99.9% of my restoration work is on vacuum cleaners. On many occasions I've found myself hunched over a magnifying glass trying to touch-up the lettering on a Hoover motor hood with paint and a toothpick. Is there an alternative method . . . one hopes!

All best,

Marty Kaplan

What a nice job you have done

Expect to see a salesman come out some where and start the Westinghouse sales pitch.

Excellent Job

The Westinghouse looks great. You deserve to pat yourself on the back for tackling the job. For the heck of it, if you still have the owners contact info, you should send them an email and let them know what a wonderful washer it turned out to be. I bet they would be surprised!

There's nothing like the purrrrr . . .

. . . of a Westinghouse slant front. What a wonderful job you did of restoring that old babe. I love 'em.

Yep, your smile tells it all. You have every right to be a proud papa.

Beautiful Westy

I Congratulate you 57 times a minute for that restoration. My grandparents had the set, and it brings back great memories.
Great Job and someday I hope to see it in person.

Paul

Hope you don't mind but I have a few questions about this machine.

Firstly, what is the spin speed? Also I watched a commercial on youtube with Betty Furness ( forgive me if I have spelt it wrong ) that said the drum tipped backwards as the machine was draining.....does this just happen naturally or is it a mechanical feature?

Lastly how long are the cycles and does it wash better than a T/L of that era?

I have a real facination with American F/L, in fact it wasn't until I saw "The Hand That Rocked the Cradle" that I realsied they existed! I also thing your GE is a stunning machine.

Paul.

Thank you

Thank you for sharing this with the group. My grandmother had this washer and matching dryer and it brings back such wonderful memories!
