What are people looking to BUY these days?

I ask because I like to occasionally look at listings and post what someone might be interested in buying. There's no point in posting if the markets gone, which will happen.

It's one thing to post stuff to look at it, but another to post for stuff people are actually interested in acquiring.

It seems like the market for stuff pre-1975 is saturated. And only unique things that are in working condition sell. There are few who know how to fix, so....
It's only natural- people who wanted stuff from then have already acquired it.

I've posted Maytag stuff before but they really aren't special it seems BECAUSE so many have lasted so long, you can find them more readily than you could say a Montgomery Wards machine. Unless its 806 or the rare 906.

I posted a Youngstown Dishwasher today but it's had little traffic. Younger generations can't relate. I really can't relate with that myself.

There was a time we'd see listings for wringer washers but now? ridiculous.

Opinions. Thoughts welcome.
Give some idea what might be of interest to post for SALE.

Posting stuff that's retro is interesting to look at. It's like there needs to be a different designation.

I shouldn't be looking to buy, but I'm still looking for a GE 'Empress' SU80P or SU80R 30-inch roll-out dishwasher.  So is my GE arch-nemesis in CT.... LOL 

 

Also, I would very much like to find a working GE refrigerator from 1963, 64, or 65 - turquoise with a right-hand door hinge to match my '64 GE range.  One in white just got posted here but it's got the left-hand hinge.

I am currently on the lookout for a Maytag dryer 808 control panel. Since I have the base/chassis from my Maytag DG606 along with a white cabinet from a 306 HOH I bought back in August of 2018, going to be putting together a customized Maytag HOH dryer together. Going have a 406/407 auto dry timer, low and regular temperature selections, along with having a lighted panel like the 806 dryers have. Putting together a customized Maytag HOH dryer together since I want temperature selections and want and auto dry timer so I won’t have to put up with a pesky electronic dry control acting up on me in the future. Of course the lighted control panel to match an 806 washer when one does pop up for sale here in Southern California.

I should not be buying anything! LOL But I've always got my eyes open for vintage electric ranges. I still do not have a Philco or Kenmore vintage electric range in my collection. Beyond that, I don't buy much any more unless something is really unusual or unique.

If referring to vintage appliances, I can say the most important thing is if it is 100% in working condition. Second is that it is spotless clean, in ready to use condition. Gas stoves by a long shot are the best sellers. Vintage fridges are a distant second.

Laundry will sell eventually but has to be 100% refurbished.

Sarah, When i stay at hotels I look for a retro place. The kind of places that were built in the 50s to the 80s.

I've have stayed at more than a few that had the original AC unit like the ones your looking for.
I would say look for older hotel that look like they've been owned by the same person for 30+ years and they've taken care of it but not made many "improvements"/changes.

Most likely in the colder parts of the country as I would think places like Florida or the south, where the AC units get used A LOT, those AC's are most likely long gone and replaced by now. Whereas a place such as the U-P in Michigan, for example, the hotels there the AC units don't get used a lot and thus they stay for many years.

You can always ask the management about the original AC units. They may well have a few broken spare ones sitting in a garage somewhere or they may have replaced some of the AC units and the old ones need to go and they'd be happy to have someone take them.

Just a lead for you:
I have stayed at the Dav-Ed hotel in Northern Ohio. The last time I was there the place still looked like it did when it was built in the 60s, including most furnishings. They also had those push-button type air conditioners with the round vent thing.
I remember how melted the plug was because those AC units get less efficient as they age.

Also, the Dishwasher I posted a link to was not mine. And as for listing on FB? Its crazy.
I always tell people in the description the phone number to call and specifically tell them I won't be answering instant messages. What they do? They send instant messages and don't call. I swear they are all bots.

Facebook Marketplace--I've seen posts before that instruct people to call and not message, but the phone number is usually blocked over with
text that says "hidden info" or something similar, and even when clicking on that, the phone number doesn't display. That's why in some ads you'll see the numbers spaced out like 1 2 3 or written out like one two three to avoid that.

Yes, I always write out some of the numbers so AI can't easily pick the number out.
I did get a call this morning from someone who said they saw it on FB.

It just is amazing the number of people who waste their efforts messaging. I suspect those are either bots or they're people too lazy to read the ad. Either way, it's a good screen since I really don't want to deal with either of those.

We typically don't put phone numbers so just use the message feature. However, I agree that a lot of people don't read the ads, even if you put details in the description. If something isn't working, we typically put "not working and don't know why" in the title and people still ask if it works or if we know what's wrong with it.
