What are your thoughts on Asko washing machines

Thinking it is about time I brought a new washing machine. Been looking on line at Asko front loaders at Harvey Norman. Very expensive. They look very sleek. Real mix of reviews. Not sure if they spray water over the load during the cycle like LG machines do. Anyone have any experience of Asko?

Just had a look at one in Harvey Norman. No rubber boot around the drum and no port to spray water over the load. Don’t think I will get one. Might stick to LG.

No drum boot has long been a feature of Asko's design. It eliminates that area as a common complaint of mold/residue/lint accumulation.

They do have recirculation - it enters at the top of the tub rather than through the seal, not dissimilar to the original Zanussi Jetsystem machines.

I've just bought the Asko Style 9KG 1800 spin washer. Marks Electrical website must be getting rid of their Asko stock as I got the washer for 599 reduced from 1900 pounds and the heat pump dryer for 399 reduced from 1000 pounds. I sold the Miele W860 and matching dryer as I've never been happy with them.

The washer does have recirculation but as Jon said it pumps the wash water over the top of the drum rather than a jet through the seal. It works well and dumps a heavy stream of water across the load. It has a great selection of programmes. Seems to wash and rinse well and the spin is great. Nice to see you can select the 1800 spin on the quick programmes as well as add 2 extra rinses.

I've only done about 5 loads but no issues with balancing...yet. It is noisier than the AEG and Miele but not excessively.

The 9KG drum seems smaller than the AEG 9KG drum.

There is a video on Youtube uploaded by how-2-repair.com . He does a complete tear down of the machine and I was impressed with the amount of steels used in the construction.

I can't speak to ASKO quality or reliability currently but my 1997 ASKO washer still runs great with very few repairs over the last 28 years...motor, drain pump, and timer. These days I'd buy a Miele first

I see you're in AU. If you have access to the Choice site, there are some reviews there ... along with other machiens ... that might help you decide. Personally, I had an Asko from 2000 until 2018. I was very happy with it

Phenomenal machine i have had various Asko machines over the past 20 yrs. They do a great job of washing clothes, whites become bright when using the high temperature wash. Highly recommend Asko.

Those deals aren’t bad atm, they are launching the new range soon so the deals on the outgoing models are brilliant.

For less than the cost of a mid range Miele you’ve got yourself a really good set there for the money.

In common with commercial front loading washers from nearly the start, Asko units never had rubber boots around drum. Rather seal is mounted around door.







Not only is this arrangement slightly more hygenic, but allows drum of washer more independence of movement.



Over time boot on domestic front loading washers will become fouled no matter what people do. There may be success in keeping rim and bellows clean and free of mildew, but the inner portion (what cannot be seen nor touched) is another matter.

When our Miele W1070 arrived many years ago now as part of installation ordered a new boot to be put on. This was due to one on machine having a small tear from previous owner.

Tech got the old boot off and one had a look, it was disgustingly fouled on interior with thick biofilm and mould/mildew. No amount of boil washes was ever going to totally shift that gunk.
