Check it out..
Why is it in the dump? Probably either has a bad control board or a bad pump. I have seen so many of them tossed out already and they all seem to be in good physical shape like this one.
I am using a KUDP02IRWH2 as my daily driver and it is a good machine. It is quiet and I have not had any problems with it in the 2+ years we have been using it. It takes long to do the dishes due to its distance from the hot water heater and the fact that my water lines go under my slab and cool off quickly.
I think the 4 way arm is a bust in this machine! It is not as wide as the old original style arms or the arms used in the standard height Kitchenaids prior to the tall tub models and it doesn't get the corners nor the silverware clean enough. For that reason, I installed a wash arm that came out of a Whirlpool machine of the same breeding. It washes better in all respects except for the very small arc of area that the small single jet on the 4 way arm has near the center hub. But it does have the two jets at the ends of the arms that spray in a more upright direction so as to get more water directed up into the silverware basket and it is longer so it gets more in to the corners of the rack.
But it is also even quieter with that arm in place. Go figure!
I would have to say that the newer multi filter models will at least not accumulate all the stuff that will get caught in the pump chamber leading to the pump itelf on the ones like in your picture since the intake passages are protected from large stuff getting down into the soft food disposer on it. There is no way it could or should be called a hard food disposer as the blades are not that good at chopping anything hard at all and they are mounted on a shaft that will slip if it should encounter anything too hard to grind. I know that makes for good engineering sense, but I think they make it sound more useful than it is.
So take it and check it out in your garage or driveway and make sure of what is wrong with it. Most of the major parts can be had at a bargain on Ebay and you will still find yourself with a decent machine once it is repaired.
