DD Portable Compact WP Washer

Very good machine that is still very repairable as almost all functional parts are still available, worst thing about it is the spin speed is only 640 RPMs. This one does have the agitator mounted lint filter, actually All WP and GE compacts [ those built by WP ] had the agitator mounted lint filter. This washer design is still in production in the 24" wide WP Thin-Twins., right down to the lint filter agitator.

It is a good deal for $75 if you want it or need it.

Lint Filter

My Whirlpool portable is older than the one pictured (belt drive in Harvest Gold) and it has the same bed of nails filter as the larger units of the period. Would be interesting to use the filter pans but it is not possible as water is not directed towards the agitator.

Capacity wise it depends upon what one is washing. You can get a decent mixed load of clothing such as socks, undies, T-shirts, etc...but for heavy and or bulky things like jeans. Have the owner's manual somewhere on my puter but cannot upload PDF files.

This is mine

NorfolkSouthern and I have the same machine though mine is the "Convertible" model. This means only difference is mine can be used either as a portable or converted to stationary use.

Fun and cute!

I've had a few of these tiny washers, mainly the Kenmore version with the mini cork screws agitator.

$75 is a good deal, if it's working good.

Have fun !

DD Compact Washer Lint Filter

And because it is nicely hidden like MTs filter many users do not clean it or even know it is there. The good thing about these little WP washers is the filters do not get all caked up and stuck like MTs filters when neglected because these little WPs only hold a little over 10 gallons of water and that makes it hard for most folks to use too little detergent and cause the problems that we have all seen in the MTs.

Our ThinTwin at the cabin...

has this agitator/tub combo...
surprisingly, a set of queen sheets/pillowcases is no problem...
good turnover, even after the speed step-down on the normal cycle...
we do split the load for the small dryer, however...
no spray rinse on ours, as water enters from the bottom of the tub...
