Door #2

Frigidaire WCD-65 and it works, too! This one is in beautiful shape. It even has its original Frigidaire hot and cold water hoses.

And finally, Door #3

Frigidaire DCIAK - and IT works, too! I think I did okay today. This 1966 dryer is a step down from the DCIK model. This one does not have the push button door, no chrome trim, no sprinkler and the cabinet is not all porcelain. It does still have the console light, electronic dryness control and the drum light & ozone bulb.

Congratulations! I am happy for your wonderful finds. I hope the electronic dry control works. They tried 3 different systems and determining which system is in what model/year dryer so that you can read up on what to test for is a real PITA. What a shame that later DCI was so stripped of glamour. And no more push button door opening is amazing. There was a time in the 60s when they were all push button latch releases except for the pedal release on the DCI. Sic Transit Gloria Mundi, especially when manufacturers go on a cost-cutting binge.

Rich congratulations!!! That WCD65 is exactly like what my Godfather's wife got (but turqoise and the set) when they moved to Houston in 1965. he was a GM VP.

Kan't Keep 'Em

Hi Greg,

As much as I'd like to, I just don't have the room to keep them. I will make one good Custom Deluxe washer out of the two, and I will polish up the dryer after a thorough going over. But either or both will give a new collector a great start on his collection.

What restoration project are you doing now?

Rich

Hi Rich, great finds! Glad your buddy is saving those for you! The dryer matches my Frigidaire set........humm.....and the control panel is much nicer than mine............humm.....lets see, what can I trade you for it?
