Hi Steve, It looks like you had such a GREAT EASTER. Great looking family, and wonderful looking food. My mouth is watering here. And yes......this is a "Taureans delight" LOL.
It is do nice that these traditions are still being kept. I have learned at lot from mom and grandma, and try to keep these traditions myself. However, this year we were at my godmother's who does not keep a lot of these Polish traditions. However, my mom did carve a lamb out of butter for the Easter table, and my brother made the traditional 'BABKA, Easter bread. We ususally, have ham, kielbasi, fresh horseradish, sometimes lamb also, plus a variety of veggies, dyed Easter eggs, and a cheese that is made from milk and eggs and is sort of sweet.

Hi Steve, Thanks so much for the recipe. Whenever you have a chance to send the spices that would be great!! I think I will try it without just because it looks and sounds so good. I often make bread in the machine using only the dough cycle then remove it and form it the way I want and bake in a regular oven. I bet it would look neat braided!! Thanks again. Terry

sharp dressed man

Toggle you look absolutely smashing in your suit and tie!

looks like there was LOTS of food too!
Happy Easter to you!

Steve,

You didn't mention or I did not see a couple of things I remember from Easter in the dim past with Yiayia and Papou. One is a round bread with an egg (still in the shell) baked in the center. The other is some kind of bread with a coin baked into it, bringing good luck to whoever received it.

We always had Roast Leg of Lamb on Easter

The past 2 years have been with the In-Laws in Memphis. Very southern outdoor meal:

Ribs (YUMM, fell off the bone)
Sausage
Hot Dogs
Pork Chops
Hamburgers
Beans
Coleslaw
Salad
Peach and Blackberry Cobbler
Assorted pies and cakes

Actually it was more like a 4th of July picnic to me but the food was great as was the company. It was a great day.

Uh oh more Greek heritage in the club!

Round bread with egg- More traditional Easter bread.
The bread with the coin in it a New Years Bread (Vasilopita). The tradition came from baking the gold coins in the bread to avoid the tax collector. Everyone BUT the tax collector knew about that one. LOL

Regarding the Kenmore 24

IIRC this machine has a neutral drain, then loudly pauses, clunks and spins.

I have it on good authority that I may be mistaken, and that it does a spin-drain. The ring at the top a la GE is said to be a clue that this is really the case.

Help me boys and girls because the Alzheimer's is setting in and I really don't clearly recall. OMG I need to turn in my membership card(s).

Thank you in advance for your input!

Steve, it could be of the Whirlpool 200 design, which intentionally did spin/drain, but Whirlpool & Sears had so many problems with this design, they ended up replacing trannys.

OR, I could be like my LK and the first load is usually a spin/drain as something in the tranny gets a bit weaker (a design flaw--where is GANSKY1 when I need him) and it will spin/drain until things warm up in the tranny. Subsequent load does total neutral drain, unless ya open the lid just as it starts to drain, pause it for about 5 seconds, and then close lid and it will spin./drain.

OH, BTW, thank you so very much for taking the time to post all the beautiful things, food, and people from your family in this thread. Very informative. Mouthwatering too.

Hi Steve, For some reason, not sure why I thought that it was usually braided but wasn't sure, did you make it in a round loaf? It sure looked good!! Terry
