Hello everybody. I was wondering what your washer sounds like. My dad's washer will do a chunka chunka chunka chunka sound, whereas my mom's lg will sound like somebody cooking or eating. AU members, what do yours sound like? Just curious. Thank you.

Our duet front loader is practically quiet during the wash and you can't hear anything but the sloshing and some buttons/zippers. During the drain the pump makes hum sound, when the water is drained it sounds similiar to the direct drive pumps but the sound is constant. Now being that the motor is a stator, during the spin theres a whine and when it ramps up to 1200rpm it makes a whine which sounds like an airplane taking off which sounds really cool.

My Miele w562 has the brushless motor I think, so when it washes you just hear the clothes tumbling and a very faint buzz unlike the more older Mieles (Hydromatic series). On spin it tries to do the fast paced chugging sound but fails, and you get the loud knocking sound of the shock absorbers wHen it slows down.

I should also mention the door vibrates like mad when it is at top speed unbalanced and it bangs whenever it spins unbalanced...does anyone else's Miele do the same?

Right now, I'm apparently dead and in hell, using a BOL Whirlpoo (as I think of it) Shredmore. The main sound is probably chugga chugga. Although the last Shredmore I used had a sound that I thought of as "rugga rugga." Sounds possibly possibly vary on installation, and also I'm biased to "chugga chugga" having heard that description.

I'd much rather listen to a BD Kenmore, as it makes a "woo woo" sound, as it gently agitates clothes to washing perfection.

During the wash, it's pretty quiet except during the Sanitize cycle, there's a low hum that emmits when the water being heated.

I need to re-adjust the feets of my Lux, the spin is a little louder than normal and it sounds like a fully loaded Kenmore belt drive washer during the pre spin cycle!

Really the refrain, "Nobody's gonna take my car, nobody's gonna steal my girl", would be the agitation, the "Uuuuuuuuuhhhhhh" you hear before the organ solo is the spin which the organ solo could sure complement, and the thudding bass at the end seems to be the machine shutting down...

I guess I would have to some how make a video of all this going on, really, but I had the two things playing simultaneously at one time or another, if not only visualized this during my Deep Purple fan phase which found me having one of the last new copies of MACHINE HEAD, amongst the rest of some their stuff which I only had on a few cassettes...

Agitation reminds me of my old Suzy Homemaker toy washer. The drain pump stutters as it kicks in, closely followed by a pronounced clunk one wouldn't expect from such a tiny device.

These vids are not my machine, but a representative sample from the same vintage

Here's the new dishwasher

You didn't ask for that, but I'm so impressed that a machine costing only $379 is this quiet. It does a competent job cleaning, though it isn't the best at drying plastics.

During pre rinse, it intermittently pauses. Between the main wash and the final rinse, it partially fills, then pulses on/off in very short intervals. Then, it drains out. When using Heavy, there's no drain - it fills a taste more, then repeats the sequence while partially spraying the load.

SQ Star...

I agree our SQ AWN542 makes woo-woo sounds on normal wash. Very good ''washer'' sounds overall.

''Highway Star'' has several parts that could relate to washers, cars,& cool machinery in general. Had ''Machine Head'' on 8 Track and cassette, the cassette still plays well. GOOD TIMES!
