Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

This General Electric washer has an impeller thats indentical to the Kenmore oasis.

The impeller spins clockwise for about 5 to 6 seconds then spins counterclockwise .

This machine hooks up to the kitchen sink the same as a portable dishwasher.

I found mine at a fleamarket back in the early 90`s & cleaned it up & restored it in a light tan color - mine dates back to 1973 -I couldn`t afford a new washer at the time & this one I found saved me from making many dreaded trips to the laundry mat .

Mine lasted till around 2001 till I was finnally able to buy my 1st maytag pair.

Mine could wash either 2 pairs of jeans or 5 shirts.

For 8 years this machine was a life saver & got me through some hard times before the unit finally died in 2001 - And yes I still have it -I love this machine I refer to it as my baby G-E washer.

This picture was taken around 8 years ago after I retired mine pardon the fan being in the way.

so this is an impeller washer.

I thought and hoped it would be an impeller washer. I have been wanting one of these for some time now.

I have that baby dryer. It is quite good with small loads. If you buy it new, it's $500! It's the first dryer I've used extensively that the automatic setting actually works well.

That one looks fairly new, but they've been making that model for years. It's available as a Kenmore or Whirlpool.

One more thing

If you need that set, I would consider that a good price. As I discussed on a thread about mine on the Deluxe side, portable stuff is expensive new, and a portable washer is usually $640 at least (Sears has had it on sale for $511 lately). The stacking rack that would put the dryer over the washer is $99 and is still available, making the set's footprint the same as the washer alone. It also puts the back-of-drum lint filter within easy reach.

Fan?

It might need a new thread, but that is a beautiful fan. Is it a pre-WWI Emerson or GE? The radios on the right also look very impressive. I think I see a Spartan with a mirror glass cabinet?

I have many radios, but none of them have made it out to Cincinnati yet. I do have many fans, some of which are here with me now. And yes, I do use them!

Yay for all things vintage,
Dave

Fan

If you have a fan like that, you wouldn't have any cats, or at least not the kind with tails.

I just got a used, Whirlpool version

of that dryer! Earlier model, doesn't have the automatic setting but it does a good job.

Sears has a 10% off sale going right now, so you can get $10 knocked off the price of the stacking rack. I just ordered one yesterday, as I have the new Kenmore portable washer ($511 w/free shipping).

Yeah, the sure aren't giving the newer portable stuff away for free, are they? And here where I'm at, used portable stuff of any quality is rare. Heck, for the Whirlpool dryer I had to drive an hour into the next state to get it.

As Dave said, that is a good price...
