I'll go with the early 1980's GE Filter Flo. Up to that point we had nothing but Kenmores. We went with GE in the 80's because my employer had an appliance purchase program and I got a great deal on one. Since I was paying I had to inform my mother that Kenmore was off the table - she kicked and screamed a little, and the fact that my father could fix Kenmores easily was no longer relevant as he died a few years earlier and I had no mechanical ability whatsoever. I might have considered Frigidaire but by that time they were a White Consolidated brand so no dice there. Anyway, that GE machine handled everything easily (and we all loved the mini basket); also, no repairs for 17 years. I then gave it to a friend since I was remodeling (very stupid on my part). The only "repair" was when my sister decided to change the speed setting while the machine was washing. I don't count that as a repair as this was a "self inflicted" gunshot wound.
