Just wondering what this thing is for? I’ve seen this on many washers, it almost feels like some sort of handle. It’s part of the door seal I just can’t figure out what purpose it serves.

Laundry push back flap

That's a flap. Along with the slanted glass door, it serves to avoid that laundry get caught between drum and rubber gasket even at the highest spin speed

quote from mieleitalia.it (sorry, haven't found elsewhere) :

"OBLO' IN METALLO CROMATO E VETRO TEMPERATO

Thanks for the info!

One time I packed a wash load a bit to large and one garment rubbed so bad against this during the 1400 rpm spin it tore a hole in it. That was dumb and I never do that again. However, I think a good design improvement would be to actually have this thing act as a switch. In the event there is too much contact it stops the spin and advises the operator to redistribute the load. It could have saved me a nice shirt and the hassle of cleaning up rubber shavings all over the door seal.

After some attempts, i've found the fix : ****img src="url" /**** (just delete the word *url* and insert the actual url between " " and swap the **** with < and >)
