Norgetag

My daily driver is a 2005 Maytag Ensignia top load washer. Though it has had lots of repairs and I cant always count on it lasting for more than a few years without problems I can always count on it to get everything clean! I call it a piece of junk sometimes now but I remember when it used to have all the original parts it would often be run constantly during the day from about mid 2009 until about November of 2011 when everyone decided to move back home (to my house) from Alberta until they got there own places.

Its really too bad that the norge-tags had reliability issues with the transmissions and bearings because they perform great otherwise! And I always loved the sleek designs for the control panel's on norge-tags, in fact the look of the washer and the capacity were the key selling points for me!

The only other reason is that it was a newer version of the Crosley (Norge) we were replacing. even though I knew Maytag washers had reliability issues in the early 2000's I still wanted it. I really wish I had gotten the matching dryer with it when I bought it....

Lucky Stiffs

We bought a Maytag Atlantis set in November of 2000. With in the first year we had a new timer installed in a factory recall and that has been its only repair. Granted its not had a hard life after we divorced in 2004. I saw the set in action last month on the night I was released from the hospital. It was washing for Mike, Sara and the girls as they left the next day for Missouri. It's still oddly quiet and turns a great wash.

In these pictures of my W1986 it is doing the 2nd rinse out of 3 so there is the last rinse and final spin to finish and this a small load of bed sheets. When I bought it I thought it was going to do 4 or 5 rinses, later I found out that the models that do all of these rinses, don't always do fast spins after each rinse. For this model there is a fast spin of about 3 minutes after the wash and each rinse and sometimes the last spin is longer, so the rinsing on this machine is Ok for me.

Recently I started only using two rinses even with Tide liquid because it seems to be reformulated and now rinses very well, but it doesn't clean as well as Persil Megaperls color which is what I was using in the photos.

I used to use the extended option (which lengthens every part of the cycle for a length of about 2 hours hour 5 minutes depending on load size) for heavy soiled white underwear and such but now do these also with the short cycle and get excellent results. I think detergents have been improved in the last 10 years.

Another thing I like about this machine is the prewash...which starts with tap cold water and heats it abit to just 105F, then changes the water and starts with the wash. The prewash works very well with stains.

The newer Miele machines sold in the USA only use 110 volts so they don't heat as high or as fast as this model which is using 220V.

Mine

Well, this is a good thread, so I might as well post a somewhat fuzzy picture of my Hubesch washer dryer set. I've had this set going on two years now.

2008 Frigidaire built Kenmores. No complaints about these at all. They do a decent job and their cycle times are pretty quick. If I would critique them, lint and dog hair removal in the washer is non existent and if even slightly overloaded in a perm press cycle everything is very wrinkled.

Yeah, prewashes are pretty usefull. 2:05 are pretty long for US detergent I think, but on the other hand, I would love to have a 105°F cycle done within an hour, but we don't have hot water supplys down n the washerroom. But as it got a typical Miele-heater probably, I would recomend u to use citric acid for descaling at 190°F+extented+sensitive round about 3-4 times a year to get it really clean and perfect conditions because these machienes have more or less often problems with cloged venting piepes and lime scale arround the heater which mostly doesn't damage it but also can rase energy usage and cycle times.

Thanks

They are the best machines I have owned so far, and I think I have had just about everything available in the US.
