What is your dream vintage washer dryer set that you would love to own one day and in what color?

My dream machine is......
Well, from an Aussie member's perspective, it has to be:
The 1973 Simpson 'Fabulous 89' Solid State Control fully programmed automatic!
The name alone is to die for!
They only came in white. I've already found my two other dream machines in Harvest Gold and Avocado Green...the Wilkins Servis 500 Series.

lol that's cool Dan. I've checked ads for vintage washers and there seem to be more in the bay area and in LA than in Fresno. Someday I'll be able to start my collection.

I'm easy to please
I tend to think that whatever is my most recent acquisition is the coolest washer ever! Makes things easy. But, I am hoping I soon find an early 70's Frigidaire 1-18 and also an early 60's Kenmore.

I have no where to store them...
but if I did I would want a 1961 Lady Kenmore washer in coppertone. I would also like a matched set of 1971 Lady Kenmore washer and dryer in harvest gold. And I would love a 1965 Speed Queen washer like my sister had which I was fascinated with. I also want a big sunny backyard with a four line clothesline and neighbors who did not burn wood for heat and smoke up my clean laundry.

I noticed that at the end of the ad text in parentheses it says (Available soon). My question is this, did they ever actually produce these, or were they prototypes that never made it into actual production? The reason I ask the question is because with all the members we have in almost every corner of the world, no one has ever found either the washer, dryer, or both.

I kinda think these never made it to the production line...
I was a young kid working at the big appliance store in San Jose when machines with this same console minus the ultra-cool eye-level styling were brand new and I never saw a model like this. Western Appliance was primarily a Frigidaire store and they always had everything that was made for any given model year, especially anything Custom Imperial. These machines (washer) look like the then-new variable speed models. These pre-micro-processor motors and controls were very complex. I remember most of them coming back for repair. This may have something to do with Figidaire changing their minds about producing this. One thing's for sure, they sure look beautiful.

My dream set is a 1957 Frigidaire Unimatic washer and electric dryer in ANY color. It doesn't matter as long as it's a set.
Something about the unique one-year-only design of the control towers that I adore.
Second choices would be a selection of 50's favorites: 55-59 Lady Kenmore, 50's Westinghouse Laundromat set, 55-56 Kelvinator, Philco Automagic...
I'm lucky to even see any of these in person. Old appliances are ultra-rare around these parts. If you do find something, it's usually a Maytag wringer or a Maytag center-dial. I have NEVER seen any automatic laundry equipment in person older than a mid-60's center-dial. Once in a while, you'll catch a early 70's dryer.
I am currently taking donations of 57 Frigidaires, 50's Westinghouse, or 55-59 Lady Kenmores.

SUDS 14: That Lady Kenmore washer & dryer set w/ the hide-away controls is probably the same set (Well, it LOOKS like it!) as the neighbors across the street had & the washer got replaced w/ a number of less-spectacular Whirlpool's while the dryer became a White-Westinghouse, followed by most-likely a GE...
As for MY dream set...--Well it seems I can't make up my mind, so I might have to have more than one house... I'll let you know as long as this thread continues...

I've found several so-called dream machines ... a Maytag 906 pair, GE portable, Westinghouse toploader, a couple Filter-Flos (one with mini-basket), a belt-drive Whirly & Kenmore, and a unimatic Frigidaire. I have several notable "modern" machines also.
I suppose the vintage kickers are any of a Philco Automagic, an ABC-mechanism Kelvinator, a keyboard Lady Kenmore, or a Norge/MWards/Catalina.
