Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Currently.......

I am trading off Sears orange box powder with Purex Complete with Zout. Both are very good. The Purex is slightly better with the grease stains I get. Sears Ultra Plus is better with the other stains. My Dependable Care has a prewash, and sometimes I use the Purex with Zout in the first phase, and then the Sears Ultra Plus in the second.

However, this is the ONLY Purex variety I would willingly use. Only.

I had a flirtation with Miele Care Collection for Colours. Very good detergent, but too expensive, and not all that easy to get. Nearest place for it is my Miele vacuum dealer's, and that's over a 30 minute drive one way.

Dishwasher detergent- Cascade Food Service. Solid Jet Dry. Perfect in my GE Nautilus.

Softener.....I have tried to go without softener, and I missed it too much. Currently it's the unscented Downy.

My Favorite Suds

For the major stuff that really need cleaning, I use Wisk. Cheaper than Tide and very effective against dirt and grime. My partner's shirts come out really white and clean (not to mention his socks and undies).
For most everything else, it's All Oxy Active for me.
I use oxygen bleach as a backup; chlorine bleach for really dirty whites and sheets.
As for fabric softener, I have switched to Final Touch. Scent is pleasant and not overpowering, and it gets everything soft. I do like Downy April Fresh, but I usually don't buy it unless there's a sale.

Forgot the Dishwasher

At my home and my Girlfriends home I use Institutional Cascade with Phosphates. It is amazing how much better a DW performs with this than the basically perfumed salt that the Liberal DFL left and their green police paymasters(pardon my poltical rant) have regulated domestic DW detergents into. I wonder how running the dishwasher 2x for a total of 5 hours run time with 3x the worthless detergent is efficent. (there I go Again).
We use Ecolab Apex power in the Hobart at work and it is the only non-phosphate(less than .5 of a percent) product I've seen that actually works.

I also use 20 Mule Team Borax, especially when hanging laundry on the clotheslines.  It works well at stain removal on white items combined with the bleaching power of the sun.  I washed a mattress pad last Friday that had yellowed while in storage over winter.  Washed it with DUZ laundry "soap", Bluette bluing, and borax.  Rinsed it with 1 1/2 caps of Fleet Farm Angora fabric softener, and it came off the line so nice and white.

Sears Ultra Plus in the orange box here.  Have used it for 35 plus years.  Wards had a good detergent too but gone now and Sears was closer where we lived.  Try diffent detergent but always back to Sears.  For wife's clothers us liquid Woolit HE got her work stuff

Well, Iam a bit of a detergent tramp! I love new products and a good bargin! At the moment I am using Bold. The gel's and powder were on special in Asda so I stocked up!
I love the smell of the products and the fact I can have loads of different smells. Cleaning is not as good as other detergents at low temps but the powders do a great job at 60 deg C + . Hope the link works for my US friends. No doubt next month I'll be bored of this detergent and look for another! Am never satisfied....he he he!!!!

ARM & HAMMER PLUS OXY CLEAN !!!!!!

Im in agreement with NORGECHEF. ARM & HAMMER Plus Oxy Clean or ARM & HAMMER Cleanburst liquid detergent products just can't be beat!

These are the BEST detergents!

GREAT VALUE for the money! Much cheaper that Procter and Gamble and Colgate brands, but not cheap quality, watery ingredients

Cleans white clothes really WHITE!!!!

Leaves a Gentle fresh scent in your clothes that is not overpowering or too floral!!

Great Quality! Gets out greasy stains without using a lot of product

AND BEST OF ALL.... still made by the same legendary company that has been turning out great products since the late 1800's - Church & Dwight!

I feel like I could be their paid spokesperson. LOL !

still finding a favorite

I have to say I probably like Gain HE powder the best. I've pretty much converted to only powders though. No more liquids in my house.

Right now I have boxes of Oxydol, Fab, Surf, Era, and "1 cup formula" Sun on the shelf, all bought cheaply at discount stores, which is the best source for powder detergents IMO. Also have some Roma. Of those, I think I like Oxydol and Surf the best.

BTW, the Roma smell is really strong in the package, but the resulting scent on clothes is relatively mild. I will venture into more detergents from the latin store, but I want to use up some of this other stuff before I buy anything else.

Launderess,

I have used the BURST detergent that you have in your collection and must say that for being a 1st generation enzyme based detergent it cleans quite well.  I found a box at an estate sale several years ago, and was very happy with the results.  There was also a partial box of Bold, an unopened box of phosphated Oxydol, a late 70's version of Rinso, and also some 20 Mule Team Borax.

P.S. I really miss LaFrance, and Blu-White powdered bluing too.

For now, I'm using Sears Orange Box, what's left of my powdered "new" formula of All Oxy, Era, and Foca.

I'll definitely have to try the Wisk with Oxy based on the recommendation of a customer at Wal Mart. She said her 4 year old gets into a variety of messes, and when she uses it, she doesn't even have to bother with pre-treating. Also, a friend of mine in Plano uses the regular version, and said he got good results as well.

Favourite Detergent

Using a mixture of detergents

Surf Small and Mighty Sunshine Lemons and Mandarin Flowers - Normal Soiled Washes, smells lovely and cleans well, (I only use half a cap and add a tablespoon of soda crystals in the wash)

Daz Tablets - Heavy Soiled Whites/Teatowels (smells like 90s Daz Ultra)

Aldi Almat Tablets - Bio/Colour/Non Bio (Lightly Scented and Great Cleaning Tablets)

Anco So Soft Conditioner (Naturals Range) - Much prefer this conditioner to Comfort/Lenor as its subtle and leaves a light fragrance on the laundry

My favourite detergents at the moment are:

Omo Active Clean Pods, same as Persil Pods or Liquitabs in the UK, great scent and clean really well, even on heavy soiled whites (though i rarely use them for these loads). I use these on day to day coloured loads and my partners work shirts.

Persil Gold Brilliance: Purchased from a local Serbian grocery store. I use this on heavy soiled white loads, towels and my kitchen linen which is washed at 90 degrees.

Favourite Softener at the moment is the Fluffy Fragrance Temptations range. The Sweet Indulgence variety is my most preferred as it has a very clean and fresh scent. Other varieties are Spice Allure and Floral Enchantment.

Enjoy

Ariel for me,Biological and Colour,

If i buy something different i always regret it and end up back on Ariel,i'm using Formil Colour at the moment and i really don't like the fragrance,so i'm switching back as soon as it's run out,

i don't mind Daz for whites and lights too,and it has a nice smell to it,

And on the last note, the box of Barf pictured above really tickled me ha ha
