For top-load users, how many of you:

A) Start the washer, put in the detergent, let it fill and then put in the clothes.

B) Put the clothes in the washer, dump the detergent on top of the clothes and then fill the washer.

C) Put the clothes in the washer, let the washer fill a little and then put the detergent in.

At times, I might use A if I'm doing whites and using chlorine bleach with a non-enzyme detergent. But my standard method is B.

We have a front-loader . . .

Remove the detergent/bleach/softener drawer, dump out the residual water in the bleach and softener chambers.

Reinstall the drawer, measure in the detergent and bleach if needed.

Load in the dirty clothes, using the last piece to wipe out the detergent cap and get every drop into the washer.

Close the drawer and let 'er rip.

We have a front loader, open the detergent drawer, dump in the detergent and start it up. If im doing laundry in a top loader, my method is clothes, detergent, then start the washer.

The same procedure as every year

(local joke, sorry)
First, the clothes. Then, in the fill tray:
First the water softener goes in. It has it's own separate wash down and gets about a minute to work before the machine then fills in the other trays.
Then the non-chlorine bleach detergent and booster.
If chlorine bleach is needed, it goes in for a new, cold water five minute wash after the first wash and is heavily diluted first - as in, 1 part bleach to 50 parts water.

I can't stand the greasy feeling of fabric softeners, so they only go in when doing separate laundry for my folks.

I put the detergent in, then then the clothes (after all, if it was not a full load, I had to use the correct, proper water level fgor the size of the wash load), and then turn on the machine.

Calypso or F&P --

Purge the hot water line via diagnostic mode.

Load-up and *additives into their dispensers (detergent goes into the agitator on the F&P).

Select cycle & options, Start.

Maybe watch the machine for a few mins ... maybe not. :-)

*If softener is used, warm (or hot) water is added to top-off the dispenser by catching some from the fill flow with a spare Downy cap.

All of the above

If I am washing woolens and delicates I like to fill the washer with water first, add the detergent and begin agitation to dissolve it. Then, whilst agitating, I add the clothes and add more water if necessary.

For regular stuff I either put the detergent in before the clothes or vice versa. Then I add the water. At other times I add the clothes start the water and add the detergent a little later. Then I usually watch the machine for a few minutes.

Start washer, add detergent while filling, load and enjoy.

With the Miele, I load, start, add detergent into the drawer while filling. I'm always afraid the detergent in the drawer first before starting the washer will flush down into the pump, never to me a dirty article of clothing at all.

I am going to add (D) I load the washer first loosely, then add the detergent by moving the load away from the agitator and evenly depositing the detergent on top of the base of the agitator near the post/barrel. Then I add my OxyClean Max force pak and a Tide Stain remover pak, .5 cup of borax to go with the Tide Powder. Then I close the lid of my SQ washer and select the temp then water level, then cycle which is most of the time normal. Start washer at the heavy soil mark and start it filling. I stick around until the tub is to where I want it and adjust up or down if I have to.
The reason I put the detergent and additives at the base near the post is that once the washer starts it gets into solution right away. Never get any residue that way.

I do the same as Kevin above.

1. Fill machine with water.

2. Add detergent, bluing, borax etc.

3. Let it agitate briefly.

4. Add items to be laundered.

5. Add fabric softener to dispenser.

6. Close lid, and come back when finished.
