What laundry additives do you use on a consistent basis? We use ammonia, bluing, and 20 Mule Team Borax regularly. Used to be a dedicated Blu-White and La France user until it was suddenly discontinued by Dial. :-(

Some oxygen bleach on whites and very lights, and prespotting for the stains that need some help. Very occasionally when something pee-soaked gets lost/hidden at the bottom of the laundry and ends up going sour I'll use some Biokleen Bac-out, but that's about it. The Vaska detergent I'm using gets everything pretty darn clean all by itself otherwise... I haven't felt the need to dip into the STPP since I started using it.

For detergents it's Tide Free or Charlie's Powder, depending on soil levels. For additives we consisntly use STPP for whites and Downy Free for socks.

Forgot to mention it in my first post that my wife loves Sears detergent in the orange box, Ariel Oxi-Azul, and Viva. She has also developed a liking for Ace, Roma, and Foca. I can't find Foca around here lately, is it because of the phosphate ban being tightened up?

I love that Tide H.E. powder or Sears Ultra Plus Detergent powder.Shout in the spray can or the shout concentrated or spray-n-wash ultra.Clorox for colors powder.clorox regular bleach for whites.Tide stain release powder.I liked Lafrance. Are there any of the Hispanic detergents safe for H.E. washers?

Have been using Sears Ultra Plus the last couple years. It's a lot less expensive than the Tide I was using, and cleans well. Sometime do use Tide Stain Release on whites such as socks. Have quit using softener, as it was making me itch.

Depends on the Machines used

On the large machines Ecolab Perma Brite. Dry Bleach, Anitchlor, Softner & Sour

On the smaller machines Sears Ultra Plus and Ecolab So Soft. The Samller machine usually run gowns scrubs and Barrier gowns. And Cubical Curtains.

First and foremost is Mrs. Stewart's Liquid Bluing. Next would be BIZ Bleach. And DEFINATELY Suavitel Fabric Softener. I love the lasting fragrances. UU, OO, I need go and add the bluing. Bye!!

sagrotan

Since our Vollwaschmittel do kill germs at normal temperatures - 40°C - I only need disinfectant (Sagrotan is a common one here) when I have to go below 40°C.

I don't know whether the new 20°C detergents really disinfect. They don't specifically make that claim, something the 40°C detergents did do when they first came out - and for which our version of consumer reports still tests.

Phosphates are going to be taken away from us here, too. Then we'll have the same gutless trash the Americans are stuck with and we'll be adding STTP to our washloads, too.

Probably the biggest difference to American detergents apart from the fact that we (for now) have phosphates so they actually clean, is that we embraced and increased our use of enzymes over the years. Americans are only just now returning to them on a larger scale.

My weapons of mass detergents

20 Mule Team Borax
Mrs. Stewart's Bluing
Calgon Water Softener
Cascade Dishwasher Detergent
Clorox-2
Tide Stain Boost

Pretty hard aquifer water here in Waterloo - so STPP goes in every load to soften the wash water. Bleach for whites, otherwise use TWB in the vintage machines, and Tide HE in the Neptune. For food or blood stains I scrub a bar of Fels Naptha in to pre-treat. Gets it out every time!

My arsenal-

Sears Ultra Plus

Downy April Fresh

(As needed)

Spray n' Wash stick

Amway All-Fabric Bleach

(rarely) Clorox "classic"

Lawrence/Maytagbear

My Current Arsenal:

- Oxydol
- Shout for pretreating greasy stains
- Fels-Naptha for pretreating protein stains
- Arm & Hammer Washing Soda for garden stains (this one may no longer be needed now that I'm no longer around Georgia's red clay)
- Oxy-Clean as an everyday bleach
- LCB when a chlorine bleach is needed
- Cuddle Soft Mountain Breeze softener - perfect in the dispenser cup of a centre-dial 'Tag

I also used to use Dreft on occasion when my partner was ill and was having, ahem, accidents. Oxydol worked most of the time, but once in a while something more was needed. I refused to send up any laundry to his room that was not absolutely clean - he'd lost enough dignity without being subjected to stained linens.

No laundry additives here.

1 scoop of Drive Front Loader and the appropriate temp and thats all it takes.

Maybe once a month I'll use a scoop of Vanish Oxygen bleach if something is still stained after line drying.

Normal loads: Tide HE plus 20 Mule Team Borax (very hard water here).

When I can get it: Persil or Via (Unilever's Swedish detergent), plus 20 Mule Team Borax

Heavy soiled loads: 1-2 scoops of Oxy Clean in addition to above.

Foca

We still have Foca at the grocery, and Big Lots has TONS of it. I'm skeptical, though, because the Foca on our shelves has just been sitting there for the longest time. If something doesn't move, typically it goes the way of the steam engine.

This is my regular arsenal.

Oxydol Extreme Clean powder
Shout spray pretreater
Go-Jo degreaser
Mrs. Stewart's Liquid Bluing (for whites)
Clean Breeze Downy (only used once in a while)
White vinegar (works better than fabric softener and removes odors)

These are leftovers that I'm using up and probably won't buy again.

Sears Ultra Plus Advanced Formula powder
Tide Original Scent liquid
Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda

I just bought a box of Sears Ultra Plus Advanced Formula (green box) and Clorox Bleach. Sometimes I use Pine Sol or Murphy's Oil Soap. I don't use fabric softener roommate is allergic to it. I'm going to buy a Bounce Dryer Bar. I also use either Mean Green or dish washing soap for treating stains.

In The UK

Hi there

Since the major detergent companies in the UK have been messing around with tried and trusted powders (Persil, Daz, Ariel) to the point that i find they dont work as well as the old ones did, I now fnd myself buying items like spray pre-stain treater (vanish) and vanishing oxyaction booster to go with the powder

Why oh why do they do it.........turn to 30.......pah! marketing spin thats all that is
