Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

In Algodones Mexico, a short 2 hour drive, where every other business is a Dentista or a Pharmacia, $1.00 can get you a box of these. It helps if you ask for them in Spanish..."Puedo tener una caja de Valium por favor"

PS...of course I'm just joking. Algodones is a haven for regular perscription meds but selling drugs like Valium and Xanax are prohibited and the US Custom agents would seize them, probably fine you too.

"I am sure Robert will be interested to know that all the hard work he has done creating and maintaining this website is for his own pleasure."

IMHO your lack of reading comprehension skills borders on pathetic. Yet AGAIN I'm forced to point out the above garbage is neither what was posted or meant.

Lawrence, easily the best idea so far in this thread imo.

"If this was my system you'd be banned by now. "

The admins and any other AW member who for whatever bizarre reason actually care are encouraged to review my posting history and reach the above conclusion. My forum contributions are routinely among the most liked.

Also for the record, I forget the exact number but several times during heated exchanges on AW over 7+ years I've emailed Robert privately and asked if he'd rather see me in read-only mode, the answer has always been no. If he or Fred even suggested it I'd be more than happy to comply: honestly we've been giving to a whole lot more than getting from AW lately, at least in the paid forums.

I like the looks of those washers. Wascomat has always made good laundry equipment. But I'm curious..do these operate with just a tablespoon of water like the others coming out nowadays or is the water level significant?

Also, how are they on cleaning?

We have a set of those Wascomats at our local coin op. While they don't give you the water half way up the door like the older models do, they do use a respectable amount of water. Much more than a home FL washer would. Plus the washer offers the user options like Extra Rinse, Heavy Duty Wash, Warm Rinse, etc. But you have to pay 0.25 extra for each of those options.

Jon:ATOMIC FIRE BALLS!!!!!Used to buy those at the movie theater-you could buy a small bag of them-great to suck on and eat during the movies!!!At this point can't remember what they cost-also I would get and eat Necco wafers,Smarties,Sweet Tarts, and Wintergreen Life Savers. Can't find ANY of these at a theater concession counter now!HATE those gummy bear things!

I just got a bag of Fire Stix individuals. Despite being glommed by Hershey who ruins almost everything they touch, these still taste like the originals.

From the betcha-dint-know file, betcha dint know that NECCO stands for New England Candy Company. Another of only a handful of legacy candies that are still as they always were. If only PEZ was.

PEZ is a shortening of the word peppermint in Austrian. Originated as a smoking alternative/cessant. That's why the dispenser is shaped like a butane lighter. I know more about PEZ, I spoke with their US agent on the phone for about 20 minutes in the early 00s. No, the flavors I/we liked in the 50s are not coming back.

Industrial Wascomat at this hotel where I worked, much the same as my 1998 Frigilux FL. Water doesn't climb the door/window but it's plenty adequate. Perception depends on what percentage of the drum diameter is represented by the window. For fashion/marketing purposes, home FLs today have an exaggerated window. But yes, for government/compliance purposes they also tend toward insufficient fills.

Wait. What were we supposed to be talking aboot?

nothing to be had here, but...

Food- or drinkwise you cannot get anything here under 1.50 (rural) or 2.50 (smaller cities) or let's say 3.50 (major cities).

Yet, here is my list:
1. A 5-litres canister of chlorine bleach, no-name brand from France (€ 1.15)
2. Some "Summer Freshness" no-name fabric softener (500 ml) from Penny Market Germany (lasts up to 40 loads).
3. Baking some sausages or fish for friends in my 1970s retro-style convection oven (€ 0.21 electric bill)
4. Shouting "WOOF" at some biker and getting back that "2nd-thought smirk" (example pic here, not posting about real persons involved) - € 0.00 = priceless.

For anything else there is MasterCard (which I don't have, LOL)

Went to Dollar Tree yesterday and took home a nice haul. Roast Pork steamed buns, Spic & Span disinfecting cleaner, Ajax cleanser (28oz), yellow cake mix, big bag of rice crackers, big bag of Oyster crackers, flour tortillas, frozen eclairs, frozen cream puffs, pork rinds (skin attached), and a bunch more odds and ends. Everything was a dollar each.  So I left quite happy.

What are roast pork steamed buns?

Louie correct me if I'm wrong, but I suspect it may be something like these steamed buns you'll find in a Chinese / Dim Sum restaurant.

Top photo:  Left is Cha Siu Bao (BBQ pork bun) and right may be chicken or pork.

Bottom photo: Steamed "Bao"(bun) with ground pork, onion, shitake mushroom, shallot, soy sauce, sesame oil, white pepper and cooking wine (I found the recipe).

Memories

Way way back in 1973, I was near Athens with my parents on holiday, I met some US kids who parents were in the US airforce, so we used to go on the airforce base and mess around and enjoy stuff there.

I ordered a roast beef sandwich (bear in mind I am from England and had never been exposed to US portions) a huge oval plate arrived with a pile of mash potato and a huge pile of sliced beef with gravy and about 2 thirds of a loaf of bread! all for 90cents, to me this was the biggest and best value "snack" I had ever had.

Gary

the only thing you can get for a UK pound these days is a Burgerking/Macdonalds kids burger

Kevin is right Eugene

You got it Kevin! Just had them for lunch. The pork was a bit more sweet than savory, but they were remarkably similar to the ones you'd get in a restaurant. And a buck each! So I was happy!

I like a bottle of Mexian coke

on sale at Giant Eagle. Made with sugar, served in old fashioned inert glass.

The way all soft drinks should be done.
