What oil and how to keep clocks and timers working?

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Don't remember the viscosity of MMO. Shook some in a store recently and put it back. I think it's a gas tank and crankcase additive. It would be hard to apply to small areas such as a clock. Tri-flow has always worked well for me. I've used it on washing machine timers. It's great on sewing machines too.

I like the temp range so can use with evap fan motor bearing

["Superior Lubricant Drip Bottle
Tri-Flow Superior Lubricant provides twice the lubricating power of most competitive brands. Its light viscosity allows for deep penetration into hard to reach moving parts. High grade petroleum oils provide optimum lubrication under extreme temperatures (-60 to 475F) and humidity. Formulated solvents soften and remove dirt and contaminants, while special additives displace moisture and prevent rust and corrosion."]

When I can I always try to do the cleaning ahead of time with kerosene and an air compressor. You have to be careful with a clock though. The kerosene and oil will end up inside the dial and mess it up. If the motor is disconnected from the clock you can do the kerosene thing, get everything cleaned, let it dry overnight and reassemble after cleaning and oiling. Clocks are tricky gadgets and easily damaged. You have to be careful with everything, including too much air pressure. [this post was last edited: 12/12/2014-18:31]

MMO has a viscosity somewhere between Kerosene and White Gas(coleman fuel). The stuff is a godsend on Air tools and I've used it on clocks before. It gums up after about 6months though. The Triflow above is a good oil as is "zoomspout" turbine oil.

With a timer/clock making sure it does not gum up is a biggie. The tinest bit of drag messes them all up.

Turbine Oil

I heard about it on here, and my brother brought over to my house a bottle of it.I love it,use it on turntables and its been in my Telechron kitchen clock for about 3years and it keeps working.
